I'm getting ready to start my 5.0 after long time not running. While the motor was out of my mustang I upgraded the cam to a ford racing B-cam and put 1.7 roller rockers on my stock e7 heads. Some people tell me this will be a problem some say it will be fine. Is there anyone out there running this combo? Feedback would be appreciated.

1.7's and a B cam will be fine. If you had an E cam with 1.7's I'd be worried. You will LOVE the sound.

Sweet, thanks man. I hear different things about the combo. I can't wait to fire it up. It's got midlength headers and a flowmaster delta44 exhaust. Should bark pretty good!

Yeah some people are probably a little worried about the longer duration of the cam being a problem I'd guess(Lift isn't an issue). If you installed the cam straight up, you'll be fine. I had a friend running that combo back in the day, and it was in his car for years without issue.

This is good to know. I have a set of the Edelbrock Performer heads that I will install one day am currently using 1.7 rocker arms. I still think I will play it safe with the B cam.

That combo is only working because of the upgraded springs on your new heads. On E7 heads, the increased lift of both the E cam and the rockers will make for some wicked valve float/and or cam slap problems. The stock springs flat out cannot handle it. So telling him it will work well is misleading...an E cam and 1.7's will not work well at all on stock heads with stock springs.

The B-cam is in already and I'm not considering going with an E with the stock heads. Thanks for the replies.
