As the title says its time for a clutch. When im releasing it shakes its a#%$##%$ off. When i first bought the car i knew it was coming only did it on release in first gear now it does it when im downshifting and all.

I want to replace the clutch, Fork, Throwout, Pilot, and Flywheel.

Car is driven on an almost daily basis but less then 50 miles a week. Not something i take to the track but i do like to get involved every once in awhile:beer:

Whats the best stuff ? Id like a stock feel or stock clutch if possible. Id like something that is going to last me awhile. Not so sure if the stocker will do that or not.

basically help make my shopping cart! money isn't really an issue but id like to keep it under 1k if thats possible if not im willing to spend more just want it done right. Preferably close to stock feel but stronger. long winded but sorry hopefully someone has a similar set up and need.

You will probably want to replace the TOB retainer sleeve once your in there. It is a common failure, so it is preventative maintenance. Your call though obviously.

Lethal Performance T-56 Throwout Bearing Retainer Sleeve [LP-T56TOBSLEEVE] : Lethal Performance, Performance parts for Ford Mustangs

^^That is the 100% best one to get.

As far as getting a reasonably priced clutch with a stock feel... that's hard to say. My Spec 3+ is a pretty nice clutch... it is easier to press down than a stock clutch. I will say this - stay away from Centerforce! I've had them in both of my Cobras and they were both terrible for me.

The company that built my transmission only uses the lethal sleeve. They have built many T-56's for a lot of fast cars too, so I trust them. I'm also sure that many will come in and tell you to go with the McLeod Twin disk. Seems to be the popular choice at this point. It's pricey though.

So the mcleod eems to be a favorite. I am not a fan of centerforce. Also considering a mgw short throw as well. And I am 100%not going with the lethal piece that seems to be the only no brainer choice

Would you say its same as stock release wise ? right now whatever is in this car is miserable to drive when i release it the cur refuses to pull on its own even the slightest bit you have to slip and rev it. The pedal seems ridiculously stiff to me granted i am used to an 07 gt with a hydraulic but still.

dropped you a pm.

People have broken 10 and 26 spline. Situations may be similar or completely different. Either way, 26 spline is stronger and it is one of those items that you could say, while upgrading, might as well do it and make sure it is stronger. Install is fine with the correct tools.

most aftermarket clutches will be lighter than factory with the pedal effort.

Yea buy a twin disc for a dd! :??:

Spec 3+ Has a higher clamp load and release pressure then a stock pp. So I don't see how your getting a "lighter pedal"

Centerforce over spec anyday!

I run a clutch from proMotion powertrain. It is not a twin disk. I suggest you upgrade to a 26spline as well.

03svtcobra....

I would recommend some searches. There are even how-to's in that section that would give you a lot of info as well. Especially if you are doing your own work, search and read and learn. you won't get all the info from just asking in these threads.

you need a TOB retainer sleeve and 26 spline input shaft to do the 26 spline swap. And obviously the clutch needs to be 26 spline as well. And go with a ford racing TOB even though most clutches come with one, the ford racing has proven to last longer.

Tim, not sure if you were referring to me or not, but so far every aftermarket clutch I have installed, the pedal feel has been lighter compared to stock. Centerforce, spec have been the main brands. I have a fidanza 4.3 in my car. Nothing special I do. I just install per manufacturer or ford specifications and typically use a fiore adjuster, UPR triple hook and LDC freeplay kit. I am going to try a MM quadrant next time.

Jason, nothing directed towards you bud. But hey while we are on the topic, I highly suggest you look into another clutch. I had the 4.3 and it failed bad! Tore the hub out of it and my car makes less power then yours. I know I talked to you about it before. Also the street manners are semi crappy because it has no marcel spring. All in all it's just a cheap clutch. You don't get much life out of it before the rivets that hold the pucks to the disk dig into the flywheel and pp. Throw that LCD free play in the trash! It's useless when the clutch is adjusted correctly.

I had planned on using fords tob. will probably do the 26 spline. any thoughts on the spec 2+ not so sure if i need a 3 really would like to retain street manners the car won't see the track. the most itll see is a cold nitto tire whenever these street ones wear out. I mostly posted this for opinions on brands and street manners.
