We managed get some detailed pics of the 2013 GT500 cutaway engine in the Ford booth at the LA auto show. Some details about it, the compression ratio has been raised to 9.0:1, and stronger head and new 4 layer head gaskets are used. If you guys have any question let me know.

- Higher capacity fuel rail
- larger intercooler
- sodium filled exhaust valves?

Anyone there comment on the new TVS baseplate bolt centers? Will the pattern allow retrofit to the older 5.4 lower intake manifold?

And I can't believe Ford would have gone back to ~2005 era, GT camshafts. Are these the exact same cams that Ford used previously?

Also interesting that Ford isn't tagging the connecting rods as being sinter forged as they have on the Boss motors, as if to imply they are a huge leap over and above regular powdered rods...

Thanks again, Sid.

i am curious what will it's safe limit be for horsepower.. could it reach 800hp(engine h.p.) safely with all the bolt ons and still be fine?

hmm so raised compression, ford gt camshafts, bigger bore, tvs at 15lb stock....Am i the only one thinking that this thing must have an extremely conservative tune? I have a strange feeling with just a tune people are going to be picking up close to 100rwhp

This is badass, however I think i would pass on the 2013 and wait another year when they do a complete redesign of the car and hopefully that means a drop in weight with the ssame engine would be unbeatable.

Anyone have anymore information on that? Sodium filled exhaust valves have caused some problems on the Z06. I'm a little concerned about those, if that is what is being used.

No need to worry. The Boss version of the Coyote engine uses them. I asked if this motor is using them because I've noticed Ford's verbage to be similar without downright claiming that they are indeed, sodium filled.

As to the Boss valves...

After lightening the Boss exhaust valve, it was necessary to use a sodium filling to better transfer heat from the head to the area of the stem surrounded by the valve guide; obviously the sodium filling is not shown here.

Wow that intake really is pinched down by the injector boss. Or is just the way they cut the plenum? There isn't much clearance between the intake plenum bottom and the intercooler core. I originally thought that the big reason for upgrading to a larger engine and better cams was to be able to keep boost pressure lower but that pulley is small and with reported boost this thing has a lot left on the table for Ford to turn it up in case competition try's to step up their game.

i've been thinking about this, wondering if this is SVTs way of giving back to the consumer and making sure they win the aftermarket game. not only is the GT500 packing 80 more HP stock, but, with 15PSI at "only" 650HP, it will absolutely gain more with just a tune than the ZL1 as well. of course, if this is the case SVT would never admit it, but i could see this being the case. why else run 15PSI?
