i have more than 1 horror story i can tell about carb conn and their shitty tunes and things of the like

Do tell please. I just got a baseline dyno at carb conn this past saturday. While i was there a guy was there picking up his newly cammed 2010+ camaro and it looked like Alex was having some trouble tuning the camaro's new cam. He had his laptop out and was explaining the tune to the owner.

I can also back up the fact that TMS is beyond horrible with their workmanship. Found several problems with the work they did on my 00 GT.

It'd be nice to know a solid shop where i could get a shortblock installed with a s/c and a good tune done at. It seems like TTI and Blood Ent are the only shops that get any positive feedback on this thread.

Have you looked into Brads Custom Auto? They are spendy but their work is top notch.

I have a buddy with a procharged SS silverado that after blood did a tune it ran like trash and made 420hp. Hes since been tuned elsewhere, had a cam installed and ran 12.1 @ 109 and is making low 500's.

Another buddy had 2 seperate tunes done on his C5 vette that was a HCI Spray rig with a built auto and it never ran right.

if you want a good tune get it on my Amazon Tuning Day in April

Alex had no problems with my cam only mostly stock car way back whenever that was. TBH a lot of problems are caused by bad parts not working together, something the tuner has little control over. I was in/out @ carbconn in under 3 hrs.

That being said, I wouldn't let him touch my new setup with a stick... it is what it is. I still recommend their shop to people, as I feel he is a very capable tuner.

Well, It looks like I am going to have to wait for Rick@Amazon, because I just don't feel safe with anyone on my 2.9L return E85 build.

Any Many others can say the opposite!
I have MANY reservations about TMS from own experiences there. Their tuning, well, i can't say anything bad about that, so far they've done me and many of my friends good. Andy's the only person i allow touch my car there.

They may get away with bolt on cars but once you step up to big cams, big blower and big fuel systems, when a real tuner is needed forget it. I have direct experience with them as well. Don't even get me started on their quality of work either.

like ANY business there are bound to be negative reviews. its too bad some of you have had bad luck with TMS, they are a great shop. andy its quickly becoming one the west coasts best tuners, and since new management(ownership is the same) moved in I've seen nothing but improvements.

this thread, is the first I've seen of bad reviews of TMS since ive been in the mustang world. granted its not that long, but still spending a lot of time on a few different boards I've never read the things I've read in this thread. i know there are a few disgruntled terminator owners out there. i know this because i was at TMS one evening and listened to a terminator owner whine about his dyne numbers...how they didn't match "the forums". my take was that anyone that concerned about dyno numbers and how that compare on a forum is a moron. frankly.

i will and do continue to throw business their way and rep a small TMS decal on my rear window. all i can do is relate my experiences just like those of you that relate your bad experiences.

whats the time frame on this? andy has come a long way in a few short months. sure 1.5 years ago id say andy had his growing pains, but now he's done some awesome tunes. he made 95whp on my uncles whipple lightning with just a better tune. and it already had a custom tweecer tune on it.

that truck has NEVER ran as good as it does now. 6mph more trap.

If you go ahead with the Paxton, you'll see what we mean. When you start talking forced induction...TMS should be the last place you take your ride.

I sincerely hope you have good luck with your experience there, just saying I'll take a mail order tune over their "work" any day.

Finally back on the East Coast
I personally would like to find a tuner who has a good mount of experience with new 5.0's. So far i have not found many, although Andy from TMS and Brad from Brad's custom auto obviously said they can tune my car no problem.

After reading some online reviews if i have to pick between these 2 i would go with Brad's.
Brad tunes car's himself by renting a dyno at a near by shop.
but here is my actual plan.
Shaun from AED is exactly 728 miles from my apartment.
after i spoke with pretty much 3 above mentioned tuners ONLY Shaun told me that i will run out of fuel before the red line. Only Shaun told me that he will not even touch my car unless i get some HIGH END injectors for my car that he knows will flow exactly what he needs. He advised me to get 1000cc ID injectors. At first i was skeptical and thought that maybe he is trying to sell me some expensive injectors that i don't really need, although he never told me to buy them from him. He just said get those injectors and BAP and i'll tune your car. I made few phone call's and researched online. ID injectors are pretty much the high end of high ends in the injector world. 1000cc retail for $960 !!! Insane right ?
Anyway Shaun agreed to either remotely dyno tune my car or have me send my car to him for tuning.
After all the parts i need i'm planning on driving to Shaun's shop in Cali on one of my 4 day weekends. It's a 12 hour drive by the way, have Shaun tune my car if he needs to he can work on it for several days. He did mention that he doesn't like to be rushed and he will take his time tuning the car and will tune it until it's pretty much as close to perfection as possible. He explained that to get a perfect tune it will take close to a month of tuning as new ECU is pretty complex and has A LOT of things that many tuners ignore and half ass.
However, i will talk to Brad again and will ask him the same questions again as i asked Shaun. I will compare his answer's and make my decision, but so far i am leaning towards Shaun simply because of his experience with 5.0's ECU as he ran 11.2 with tune/intake and tires! That's pretty sick for N/A 5.0.

Or maybe we can get enough interest and have Shaun fly out here and tune several cars at once ?

Lol. I'm sorry but all this proves is the Tweecer tune was crap to begin with. Also sounds like a mild setup where most of the tune was already done and needed a small adjustment, nothing a thousand other other tooners could do.
