01 cobra vs 2000 camaro SS? who do you think would win

I know every 16 year old thinks they got it down but even at 18 (was almost 19) when I first got my z28 the stupid was still too strong. I know you can kill yourself with a 100hp car but it's a lot easier to get in trouble with a 300+ one. Poor car.
I'm going to say since you don't have much driving experience. I would give the edge to the camaro. When I was young I used to street race a lot never got caught racing but there was a few close calls and one cost me my DL for 6 months

I wont lie, I tried to kill myself several times in a car when I was that age. Looking back now, NO WAY IN HELL I would tell little Stopsign to race!
i say the ss gets you in the end. you might get a jump on him but in the later portion of the race he will get you
lol. If a Cobra with 4.10's can't take a stock LS1 that's the driver's fault.
What does an NA Cobra with 4.10's, otherwise stock, on street tires usually ET/trap? NO other bolt-ons allowed in this scenario. Now factor in OP's crap tires.
It's not uncommon to see LS1's trap low-13's at 105. Some people don't give LS1's enough credit, some give too much. Same with all cars really.
I've never seen a '4.10 only' 4v, but plenty of us with bolt-on/4.10 Mach 1's were trapping 110ish and running high 12's on street tires, I've seen traps as high as 112.
Yeah yeah, the Cobra has an IRS, but stock LS1s are certainly nothing to write home about.

The fact that the owner of that Mach 1 said a good tire, good track prep, and great air conditions helps achieve those times tells me there's more to his car than 4.10's and some good driving.

Age of drivers aside this thread is amusing. How can most say a bolt on 99/01 Cobra will struggle to even beat a stock LS1 F-Body is beyond me. I bet if the OP had a Mach the responses would be different, why? There was a video posted a few days ago of a 01 Cobra and a Mach with the same mods, the outcome was basically dead even.

I agree and don't think either of these kids should race- but remember the LS1 isn't exactly driven by a pro on slicks either. And for those who keep talking about how perfectly controllable a 300HP slow car is for a teenager, refer to post #79 and shut up. This is too much car for kids (no offense op, but listen up). Even if OP can handle his car, what about the other guy? Is it worth keeping on your conscience for the rest of your life that the other kid was killed? Please don't street race. You both have awesome cars. Leave it at that.

I agree. The difference between the Mach and Cobra isn't the difference between a 2V and a 4V. This is like on LS1 tech- they all smack talk the Mach 1 then say, oh, I thought a Mach 1 was a 2V :fart:
4.10s and a k&n isn't enough to make an 01 Cobra bust off 12s all day is it? I feel like people are thinking of full bolt ons here or assuming a very sticky tire. Hell the cobra in question here doesn't even have a tune on it.

Hahaha I'm not gonna sit here and tell you not to race cuz when.I got.my.cobra it was exactly.what I did but all I have to say is be smart about it and make sure you can handle the car cuz it will get ugly fast and wait till it gets warmer outside
The LS1 loyalists are trying to find anything they can (like the age of the OP and his tires) to devalue the cobra, and overlook that the LS1 is also driven by a kid the same age with unknown tires AND the mods of the Cobra that do make a difference. In the end, the Cobra is the faster CAR here, the outcome could be anything (including them both crashing into each other and killing themselves, someone else, or a combination of the two.
