Sorry 1 job in the military 212 ways to support it.

If you ain't combat arms all you should get is a sticker and a pat on the back.

Guys on the ground act like the drone pilots don't deserve recognition because they don't have a chance to be killed during their job.

Well, you can't be short sighted enough to not understand how important EVERY part of the operation is and without drone pilots you would be dying more often. Drone technology and the people operating them do a lot of positive things for you guys to make your job easier that t would be otherwise. S I don't understand the hate.

Besides its just perspective. There's people in the mitral that have need more dangerous jobs than the people in this thread, would you feel okay if they belittled your job and said you not deserve anything because you're a pussy compared to them?

I agree the medal placement should be much lower, but don't neglect what they do either.

I'd guess that less than10% of the af wears a beret. Doesn't 100% of the army wear one?
Why are you up in arms over the af beret issue? Lol

Because the Air Force more then the other branches has the medal for everyone mentality. Everyone gets a little bling on the uniform for their respective career field. Along with 6 different beret colors. Berets should only go to those who are SOF. I don't like the fact that I wear a black one with my dress uniform. Patrol cap is the standard head gear in garrison and field btw.

I disagree, in service dress you guys have more bling than a run of the mill airman. Our service dress is pretty plain compared to the other services.

I've got 3 guys in my shop that have been deployed 3 times, they each have an Army, Navy/Marine, and Polish commendation medals but no af. Lol

I already acknowledged the Army was bad too. The only skill tabs are Special Forces, Ranger and Sapper. The Ranger scroll is the unit patch. The airborne tab and mountain tab are also part of the unit patch. It's not a skill tab. Unit patches have their purpose as do the combat patch. The AF used to do it too.

We have a lot of badges. The CAB is crap, a ribbon would have been more appropriate. The CIB is legit. I think the AAS wings should go away even though I am authorized to wear them.

The AF is authorized to wear many of the badges the army has too. They used to be able to wear AAS with the woodlands. I don't think they can wear it with the ABU's though. Maybe with the dress uniform. I know they can wear dive, airborne, and free fall. Maybe even some of the others in dress.

Your taking my position and opinion way too personal.

+1. TACP's wear a black beret in the AF. Special Operations Weather team dudes wear a grey one, and select personnel who run the AF survival school get a foliage green beret or some shit.

The AF has gone waaaaaay over board with the beret bull shit.
Maroon
Scarlet
Black with a bluish tint
Black
Grey
Foliage green
*Tan (proposed but bitch slapped down thankfully)

I still think the Army has gone too far with it too. Yea the Airborne is "high speed" but they really are not elite, which is what the beret should signify. The black beret for everyone is a joke, most people don't know how to wear it correctly and it looks like smashed asshole.

They wear the Beret, because of an experiment during Vietnam, where the 82nd SPS was given training on par with the Army Infantry. They wore a beret to signify that they were one of the only combat arms units in the USAF, and it was blue because of their police origin. Over time as more units were given the same training, it was adopted by other SP units, until it was finally made official I believe in 1975. This is also, where they get the misnomer "Air Force Infantry". While they are not trained to the standards of Infantry units today, they do have similar training to that of Infantry units going to Vietnam.

If anyone wears Berets like complete pizza chef looking idiots it would be these mostly Army personnel.

I'm not taking it personally, I just think you're doing a lot of finger pointing.
This is an entertaining discussion either way

They're only doing this because they're trying to fluff up the image and pass political agendas.

Jealousy no, little hate. If you're not in the air you shouldn't get flyers pay, you also shouldn't wear a flight suit if you're sitting on the ground in Vegas. All my opinion though.
Navy LCAC crews get flight pay also and have to pass a flight physical.
