I have owned 2 terminators in the past year and both of them have had the same noise in the clutch. I never noticed it during test driving for both of them, but about 1 month after it drives me crazy. The first cobra had a Spec stage 3 clutch and this one has a centerforce dual friction clutch but hte noise is the same. With the Stage3, I thought it was the clutch spring rattling against that cover, so I took the cover off and it still happened. Its a rattling noise that sounds like a light piece of metal is rattling constantly off of something. It happens in neutral and every gear when my foot is off the clutch. It only goes away when you push the clutch in, but NOT engage it. Its not the TOB, ive had many of those go bad. If I even push the clutch in 1/4" before it even hits the engage point, it goes away. Ive only found one video on youtube that sounds like my noise and he demonstrates it by barely pushing in the clutch. For him it ended up being that the pivot ball was not tightened down and the clutch fork was rattling against the clutch. Has anyone had this noise? It has to be common if ive owned two cobras with two different clutches and both had the noise.

If it were a loose pivot ball, is it possible to reach it and retighten by taking off that cover?

Thanks!

i'm interested in this as well...my car makes the exact same noise. just barely touch the clutch and it stops. i replaced the TOB bc i was told that is what it is, but it's doing it again.

the guy at the shop had my car on the lift and showed me the same thing you're talking about. took the little cover off and showed me where it was hitting. he said he thought the input shaft is slightly bent, so when it's rotating it is also wobbling and that's what was causing it to hit the cover and make the rattling noise.

Yea its driving me crazy. On my first cobra, when i took the cover off the noise didnt stop, so nothing was hitting the cover. My new cobra has a brand new 26 spline input shaft that was installed just a few thousand miles before i bought it. I have more of a squealing sound with it now too which i think is too much tension in the cable, so im going to try to loosen the firewall adjuster, get rid of the squealing noise, and try to get a video of this noise. Glad to see im not the only one!

Now that I think about it, i think taking hte cover off the old cobra did stop the noise, but i couldnt adjust it so that it wasnt hitting it. I thought about leaving the cover off, then I was like hmmm better not :)

Ill take that cover off this one and see if it stops. The thing is I drive like an old woman, so how the noises started after i bought the cars cant be from extreme driving. I did a few tire burners with the new one and one donut, but thats it.

Think I'm having the same problem. If I figure out how to post a vid. I'll put it up.
