There is allot of internet racers in this thread.:-D Dynos and HP numbers are not what you guys should be worried about on the street. Maybe at the track you big HP 6 speed guys will beat them but a bolt on automatic Hellcat with some tires is going to do its share of damage on the street. Been street racing a long time and the high HP 6 speed cars are the ones you can make your money from. Not unless your roll racing where you just step on the gas and shift once. Anybody can do that.

707 HP

707hp + 8 spd auto = 10's easy. yes, shelby folk indeed have to worry.
It's more than 500 pounds heavier than a 13 shelby with 45 crank hp more to carry that extra weight. Will it actual show that gain in hp over a shelby at the rear wheels? A stock shelby should run 10's easy but is hobbled by the computer. Dodge may do the same to this car to protect the driveline. I don't think 10's will come easy with this car even with the auto because of the weight. The stick shift versions will be losing to stock Shelby's IMO.

Auto Hellcat will be high 10s easy on DRs i suspect. Likely 11.2-11.4 bone stock IMO.

I always liked the styling of the challenger's more but the performance sucked. Now it looks like it will have both looks & performance. Have a feeling ford will counter like they did with the zl1.

If my 5500lb land barge can run as far into the 12s as it has with bolt ons then this thing at over 1200 lbs lighter should be easy 10.90-11.20 with decent traction. The 8 speed is a damn awesome gearbox.

Guys, this car is NOT going to have 700 HP, though that's what it needs to be competitive at it's weight. The challenger has always looked great, but it's just too heavy. Dodge can say all this "More power than Viper" malarkey all they want. It's NOT going to happen. Especially if they expect to get the car in the 50k base price point.

My wifes tuned SHO has edged out wins vs several SRT8 offerings over the course of several random races. It's pretty damn easy to get a SHO into the mid 12's So while it may be heavy, it's a damn capable vehicle.

Dodge could always take a page out of GM's book and make it far less power and far less performance but yet more expensive than a base Viper. Call it a "Limited run" of 1500 cars over two years and people will go bat shit crazy over it!

I just wanted to quote this
