Ever heard of the Great Recession of 2008? Did you miss all the news of auto manufacturers and suppliers based in Detroit closing up shop and either moving elsewhere or shutting down altogether? You do know Detroit is called "the Motor City," right? As in, automotive manufacturing. What, pray tell, do you think will happen to ANY town that loses its bread and butter industry? You racists try reach so hard it's plain ridiculous.

Have you heard of the great migration of the 20th Century? They shit out more than just Detroit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Migration_(African_American)

New Orleans, Baltimore, D.C., St. Louis to name a few more. Right, wrong or indifferent American cities with more than 50% black populations are typically enormous shit holes.

I think this kind of wraps things up. Bottom line is both sides of this issue make valid points. White people see things through their own personal experience as do black people. Does racism exist in this country? Sure it does, but it is not as overt as it once was. Are black people overly sensitive to it? I think so. Are white people blind to it? Sometimes yes. However when these discussions come up it seems like both sides default to classic defense tactics to argue their points. If a white person says something stereotypical about black society they are instantly labeled a racist. If a black person defends their race and calls the white person out as misinformed and bigoted, the black person is labeled an agitator. People see things through the color of their own experiences. It doesn't make a white person a racist if he or she see faults in a particular racial community no more than it makes a black person a racist for pointing out faults in the white community. Racism is the belief that your race is superior to all other races. People tend to throw the term around very loosely and 99% of the time it is used incorrectly. What most people are arguing about on here is prejudice that is based on stereotypes. Prejudice is learned through personal experience and reinforced with stereotypes. There is a big difference. I have yet to see anyone on here talk about how their particular race is superior to all others...I have seen predjucial remarks made by defenders of both sides of the argument however. So for the sake of further argument, please stop calling people "racists" when it clearly does not apply.

There has always been a double standard in the USA with

Greed
Arrogance
Ignorance
Hate

Lets not all act like every race that built the US was actually given a fair start.
If everyone in this country was treated equal from the jump and treated like fellow human beings we wouldn't have crap like affirmative action now would we?

I still have yet to see anyone in this thread besides Tezz actually say" you know what we ARE from a messed up past, lets put it all behind us and build the right way.
No arrogance no hate no greed no ignorance..just level headed progressive mindsets.

1. Unfortunately we still have some negative blacks who just can't let go of the past slavery, segregation that thier ancestors endured and love to use it as an excuse for thier shortcomings until they die.
2. We still have some illegal Mexican immigrants who just can't grasp that they are here illegally in US territory that was won fair and square, and will use it as an excuse for thier shortcomings until they die.
3. We still have some arrogant snobby white Americans who love to turn thier noses up at other races shortcomings and frankly just don't want to share this country with anyone who doesn't fit the description of "White Christian"
4. We still have some Jewish who are still bitter about the past and use the "us against the world" mindset, power and wealth they accumulate to build in the US exclusively for the progress of Jewish people by all means including theft and deception to any group other than thier own.
5. We still have arrogant confused intolerant Muslim immigrants who refuse to accept the fact that when you migrate to another country it would be wise to adapt to that country's culture and diversity in religions.

Will these type of mindsets still exist 50 years from now?

Just to reiterate a comment earlier, Detroit was a shit hole long before 2008.

I'd wager those programs would exist, regardless. There will always be groups of people looking for free handouts for perceived injustices.

And with that, I am officially done with you. That response is so asinine that I don't even know how to respond to it. Please, oh please, find ONE post I've ever made ANYWHERE on the ENTIRE internet where I was asking for a handout or blaming somebody else for my non-existent woes. Please find one. I have an extremely comfortable life and want for pretty much nothing. Who do I have to thank for it? ME! Are you really so desperate to find something to complain about with black people that you really think people are being given free cable?? That comment is so fabulously dumb that... I just can't... ****ing wow!
You just keep on playing that card.

You say you're doing fine...but how that can be? You routinely spout off on white privilege, and blacks don't get opportunities. So which is it, you being held down by an invisible man, or does it simply take some effort to succeed? By your accounts everything is stacked against you.

At this point I know you're not really surprised by that comment. Bringing up BET is their only hope when talking TV programming, hell, there are way more Telemundo TV Channels than I can Count. Maybe I should petition for more mostly black channels to watch on this free cable I receive.

So it isn't allowed to reference a black run network, when your partner in crime (IE the other race baiter) cries about no blacks on TV except for criminals. :rollseyes

If you don't have free cable, there's always your obama phone to watch it on. The choices are endless...:rollseyes

1 channel out of how many is to much? Just trying to clarify if you're complaining about there being a channel catered to black people. Did you just call me a race baiter lol? prove it.

That was pretty well said. However even with a fair start, we would still have the same issues. They may have been delayed a century or two, but they would still come up. The issue is people. Anytime you have a mix of cultures, or hell just skin tones, at some point someone is going to feel as though they were wronged. That begins the start of this mess.

I'd wager those programs would exist, regardless. There will always be groups of people looking for free handouts for perceived injustices.
Exactly. As soon as one person feels wronged, they start to vocalize and convince others. Before you know it, anyone who feels like a victim is going to find things to justify the view.

The movie Crash would be a good example of what you're saying. I still stand behind my statement on the system being the cause. Yes, there would still be issues because you cannot have a utopia, but you could improve what we have now for damn sure.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said, one is too much. Point is there is a dedicated network on top of the multitude of (positive) roles blacks portray in shows. So GT's comment on 99% white dominated media is wrong...as is the majority of everything else is spews.

You constantly agitate race issues, a simple post search paints a pretty clear picture.

That movie is actually a great example of how these things happen.

We could improve on what we have, but there is little to no incentive to do so.

I simply asked a question that you still didn't answer.

You call me a agitator, my post are no different from yours. They may be from a different perspective, but are really no different. I don't flame, name call or anything. Post this proof you have of me agitating.

So do you feel this is as good and civilized as it gets with a country of our diverse race and religion design?
Tell me the changes and solutions you would really like to see before you die.

I've seen countless threads where you have done this. You don't name call (that comes to mind), but some of your post are designed to evoke reactions from others. If I get the time and deem it worthwhile, I'll run through some of your post, but anyone who reads any of the fueled threads on this site know exactly what I mean, and I'm sure you do as well.

I'm a realist, we are at the pinnacle of tolerance for many years.

It will be long past our lifetime before we see any large improvements in society...if they even happen. We are closer to a larger divide than any kind of unity here. We have become such a society of racial fueled anger, trying to do a 180 on that mindset is going to take an enormous effort from the mast majority of the country. I don't see that happening when our leaders (politicians) and media thrive off of this.

A large sector has such a victim mentality that is passed on to others and even worse they are raising the next generation with this mentality. Watching all the protest the past year, and the high schools that empty into the streets to protest drives this view home. These kids get interviewed and have almost no understanding of why they are so upset and what they really want. Entitlement and being a victim is a growing mindset here.

Until that is crushed and people stop making it a point to feel wronged and blame others for their problems, we wont advance.

I'm a realist,
To our two resident race baiters that's called racism. Discussing these issues with race baiters reminds me of this video in the sense that you're a racist when you point out the obvious cause to some of these problems:

You're saying "we" but you only seem to have problems with a certain race.
This is much bigger than just blacks getting over the entitlement "America owes me something" mentality.
If your going to confront one races issue lets address all.....

No single race of the type of people I listed are in the clear here of being for America's progression Screw Rice.
Lets be completely responsible blunt and honest here.

Like I said before Tezz was the only one in this thread with a true progressive mindset in these issues.
If that's all you can do is point fingers at one race still then you are truly part of America's problem.
