This was last weekend. Neon green Challenger Hellcat. I figured I was about to get bent over and mercilessly pounded, but wanted to see how close I could hang with the blower and huge weight advantage. I looked over at him and grinned a bit, said "nice car! what year hellcat?" he said "thanks, 2015 - just got it." - I downshifted to second, we both slowed it to 40. I looked back over, he counted it off and... I don't know what the hell happened here but by 65 MPH I had almost a full car on him!

We saw a cop up in the distance so we let off and he turned off to wherever he was headed.

For reference, I have about 520 HP at the crank. I know those cars are heavy, but there's no way this should have happened...

There is 2 keys just like the 12-13 Boss-302's have, the silver one I think only allows 540 HP while the red allows the full 707 HP to be unleashed on the Hellcats. Not only that if he was still below 750 miles it could of also been in safe mode as you need to get at least that much on the engine and trans for the power to also be uncorked totally.

Myself I got a feeling that Fiat Dodge is going to spend a lot of money in fines for not being able to reach the new CAFE standards 35 MPG. And I still say the Jeep Trackhawk or what ever it is, is not going to see the light of day because of it.

Good kill.

Oh... well there we go that's why I'm sure. I'm disappointed, but not confused any more.

No way I'd even hang with him if he had all 700+ HP going on. Still was fun!

They wont get fined, they will just do what they've been doing now. Buying up all of Tesla's Cafe credits. FCA will have to do something soon unlike the other 2 they dont have any small boosted v6's to fall back on.

Thinking about it, I'm wondering how much power it would really take in a new edge Mustang to hang even with a Hellcat at full power. 4400 pounds is a LOT of weight. I'm betting with 480 to the wheels you can hang right there and wouldn't be surprised if 500 lets you nose out a win...

Maybe it's time to bump it up to 8 PSI... my poor rods though.

Its fleetwide though isnt it? That just means they build more low powered high mpg high efficiency cars and drop the build qty of the offenders to offset.

IE if right now theres 25% v8's and 75% 6ers, expect to see that change to say 20/80 and then as they get tighter 10/90 split.

Who in actual reality would ever put the silver key in... Especially if he "just got it" lol.

You'll need a bit more than 480...I got yanked by a manual one in my 600whp 03 Cobra.

Really? They put out about 620-630 at the wheels and are land yachts. I'm thinking that cat you raced had some work done. An E85 tune is not uncommon on those and they can make huge power with it. They probably have a more efficient drivetrain than what I was assuming, but even then I'd be surprised if a 3400 pound GT or Mach would need more than about 550 to at least hang in there against a bone stock one. Wow.

Cobra is a little heavier than a GT/Mach, but not that bad I think. How bad did you get pulled on?

I beat my own cobra(440hp490tq) in my nitrous 95. power to weight ratio is key(95 is 3200 with me) from a 40 roll also both in second. so it does sound like it could happen.
