Shelby Swap
An SVTP member swaps the Voodoo intake on his Coyote with great results

From the moment we got our eyes on the Shelby GT350’s Voodoo engine, we wondered if its free-flowing intake manifold, cylinder heads, and such would be a viable upgrade path for owners of Coyote 5.0-liter engines. As it turns out, they definitely will. While the heads will require some special cams to work on a cross-plane engine, the intake and its companion throttle body are a direct bolt-on for the 5.0-liter engine despite its slightly larger, taller runners.

I think we have just seen Ford's possible answer to the new Camaro. This would be an easy upgrade to the current 5.0 Coyote to get the GT in the 450-460 horsepower range (emissions compliant with Ford's detuning of course) and also leave the GT 350 as top dog in HP and leave room for a possible 5.2 liter cross-plane Coyote for SE Mustangs such as a Mach 1.

If Ford would offer a Mach 1 package at around 500hp for the price of an optioned new gen Camaro SS, and make as many as people want, then they would have a win-win scenario.

An answer to the Camaro? Haha, no. An answer if you want to drop $1500-$2000 + tuning and loss of warranty, sure I guess.

UPDATE!!!!

After growing tired of the gt350 tb surge, I reinstalled the OEM tb with the MMR adapter plate and here are the results:

4th gear pull comparing gt350tb to OEM:

5th gear pull:

I think with the ported oem throttle body the pull will continue I'll know for sure this time next week, which will include the optimized stock tb as well as headers

Not ported at all, waiting to get it back from maxbore, on this tb all i did was smooth the entry up to the throttle plate (boredom and beer and new tools were involved).

But if you look at the graph, the oem tb actually made the same ish power if you exclude the blip at the end of the gt350 pull, however im sure if my limiter was correct on that run that power would have continued.

Something about velocity in regards to tq came into play here, I will redyno with my ported tb to see what changes, but I reviewed datalogs from both of the runs and everything was the same in regards to spark/cam timing

However you can see the hp start to fall off right at 7400 whereas the larger tb wanted to continue making power, Im hoping that the ported stock tb is the sweet spot for hp/tq

I think the 85mm is pretty expensive? Might be cheaper to bore out the stock one.

Also WE NEED VIDEO(S) :D

Thanks again for your effort, it is greatly appreciated! Also I wanted to ask did you buy the intake off the link I had posted?

Yeah the 85mm BBK cost 500 bucks the stocker ported out only cost me 134 at maxbore.com....

@thehunteroo, I don't recall but quite possibly...

I'll redyno as soon as the ported stocker comes in, he said he should be able to get 85mm out of it if not 84.5 minimum...I've also got a set of longtubes that I plan to install this weekend so expect a dyno following that as well

I got the pypes stepped catted from beefcake, per his recommendation regarding fitment, material used (t304 stainless) and cost

I have a lot of doubters over on 6G regarding the gains, including a shop...who has decided to try it on their own car (ive got a hunch i know the outcome considering they sell gt350 IM/tb combos) so .....but I've got nothing to gain from anyone, just posting what I receive via the dyno and people can take it for what its worth to them until more owners come around and start posting their results

come to think of it I've still yet to see any dyno sheets of the cobrajet setup.......I'm still curious as to the gains it produces

You might get banned on M6G if you make anyone mad lmao

There might be an issue with the 350 TB. Will be interesting to see what it makes with headers as well, are you going to dyno again with the ported TB or with the ported TB + headers?

Ideally i would like to do tb first then headers, but my time is really limited due to work, and the shop i go to for dyno time has quite the waiting list and have thus far been able to squeeze me in, if nothing else ill do a headers/oem tb and swap tb's on the dyno and see what changes

Whats the process on getting your TB ported? I went to maxbore website but seem uneasy about making a purchase. You send money then ship to this guy?

Do i need my boss manifold inlet matched to 85mm or is it already at 85mm
