I tell the guys at work all the time,

Them: I'm getting 3K back......

Me: Yea, go look at how much you still paid.....

Them: Awe ****

I don't understand how people are happy getting back a couple grand they loaned interest free to the Gov after paying 30K or so.
I don't understand how people only look at federal and not add up all the other shit.

These ****ers are taking over half my salary every year and what do I get?
Shitty roads, tainted water, paying for some under achiever who won't get off the couch?

I have had about enough. I'm just waiting on the the rest of you to have enough with me.

I've had enough. Join me in my "final solution" listed above. Yeah, I ****ing said it.

I would go down as the most evil man of all time who ALSO saved the planet and humanity.

Thats what i dont get. Between my wife and i we make just under $100k combined. We both have around $60k in student loans, no kids (one on the way), purchased a house, etc and owe every year. We both claim 0. The state of Maine is the freebie state. less you work the more you get. Frustrating to say the least.

That's what I'm getting at.

1. They don't have the manpower to arrest the whole country.
2. They don't have the jail space.
3. When we quit paying they don't have the money to do it either.

However, be prepared to defend yourself and property because when those who live off the Gov don't get their check all hell will break loose.

Florida FTW.

So you pay 6% less than me pretty much.
So 47% of your whole salary is OK? Got ya.

You still pay Federal.
You still pay sales tax.
You still pay property tax.
I bet you pay some other type of garbage collection, water, sewer fee, etc...

Hell, cell phone bill has a FCC fee.
Cable bill has a FCC fee.

Add all the shit up that you pay to the Government in some way shape or form.....

Seems to me if I pay income tax then those ****ers need to spend wisely and cover all the shit they need to with only that.

No, they over spend so lets put a fee on cell service to cover this.
Oops, Local Gov can't afford to repave this road so lets raise sales tax inside the city limits 1%
Oops, the state Gov is over budget so lets put a tax on alcohol and raise state sales tax 1%
Oops, local city needs new sewer line so lets raise the sewer impact fee.

Do I need to go on?

What i tell people is this: if you are making over 65K a year, combined, get a CPA to do your taxes. You will be glad. And you can retroactively re-file taxes up to five years back, I think.

As to your situation, Branhammer, my wife and I are in the same boat, and have been for ten years, at least. Our accountant looked at our situation, recommended we have an additional amount deducted, and that problem is solved.

In my opinion, payroll deduction of taxes should be flat-out against the law. We should have to write a check, every year, for what we owe and pay it. If we did that, there would be huge riots as people saw exactly how much is being taken from them. Payroll deduction prevents that by most people not knowing how much is being taken from them. I say if the Federal Government wants to tax us, they should make it so in-our-faces clear how much they are taking that no one has any doubt. Then the next politician who comes along promising midnight basketball or whatever in the hell else piece of dipshittery with your money will get run out of town.

Bitter? Why, yes, yes I am.

I agree with all of this. Last year I filed for the first time as a civilian in over 20 years. I worked as a 1099 employee and got to stroke a check for the entire year at once. It's an eye opening experience. It's no accident that for most it's deducted automatically.

I have an appointment to get mine done on the 4th. I can hardly wait.

I'm all in, so when do we figure out your presidential run? Or you know what, run as governor, I'll relocate if it means earners stop getting bent over.

I have seen this thread for a few days and I just do not get it. I would be glad to pay at tax time. I hate giving the government an interest free loan. I claim 4 and my wife claims 3 with no kids and I still get money back.

Everyone understands that aspect. The frustration comes from pay time being a reminder of just how much we pay in total.

Something isn't right here man. Federal doesn't vary from state to state unless I'm missing something (didn't seem to change from Il to MO) Either one of your jobs is screwing up payroll or one of you isn't setup correctly claim wise.

Several years back the wife and I made right around 100k (couple years actually). Both filing 0 we got back 3000-4000 each year. No student loans to deduct and fairly small interest on the house.

I think you need to get HR from both jobs to double check your setup. Last year we cleared 150K, her filing 0 me 1, and we broken even.

State income tax (and several other state and local taxes) is deductible. So while fed txt doesn't vary state to state, deductions will

I did mine tonight, I was OK with just paying $63 then after the Obamadouche care fine I have to pay close to $1000. This extortion of hard working American citizens need to be repealed after Barack leaves! Forcing free thinking people to pay a fine for not having heath care is raking in MILLIONS for the IRS..:nonono:

get a high deductible health plan. I never go to the doctor and it's what I use. Money just goes right into my account and sits there instead of paying for insurance that I don't need. No fines. Better on your taxes. What I pay for it and what my employer contributes breaks even.

I'd say you and your wife make a lot of money combined. My wife and I are both active duty so only about half of our income is taxed. We have two kids and claim 0 and we ended up getting 8300 back. Im guessing its because we have 2 kids and pay a pretty good amount into daycare.

Like others have said just have your employer take out more money, or take a pay cut so your in a lower tax bracket.... Jk obviously

You only get a 600 dollar credit max for daycare services. Because only half of your income is taxed plus having two kids is why you're getting back that much.
This is the part I truly don't understand. Don't get me wrong, I wish the best for you and hope you get every dime back. I just don't understand the tax brakes for having kids. It's like I'm being punished for being responsible and not getting some chick preggers.

I agree with this.

Having a kid is a choice. Having a place to live and even having a job to live is not a choice, unless you like living as a homeless person. I feel people that have kids are rewarded and those that do not are penalized even more, despite making "more" money.

My wife and I bust our asses, pay a lot in student loans, mortgage, mortgage insurance and over $16,000 in JUST federal taxes and have to shell out several more thousand. Now, to avoid this, we are reducing our checks and taking a $250 per month loss on income so we don't owe in 2017.

In Chicago, our income is nothing special and hardly considered middle class (125K combined)

The tax code is written to incentivize child bearing, real estate, etc. it needs to be reformed but until then I'd suggest you all look into finding more tax breaks. Instead of taking pay cuts, donate the money or use it on something that gets you a tax break. Me and my wife made 150k last year and with a house, a kid, daycare, and retirement tax breaks we bought home about 7800.

To give an example about tax breaks, our daughter will be going to pre-k this upcoming school year. We could've just kept her in daycare but we decided to put her in a private school. The cost are surprisingly close and we get a lot better structure and care at the private school. Where I'm getting at is when we file next year, instead of only getting a max of 600 dollars for paying in over 7000/yr, we can actually recoup close to 3000 of that money through the child care credit. It's just for the one year she's in pre-k.
