I'd say they have great "guard dog" instincts. Very protective over their owners. If you are worried about bad things happening, it would probably be a good idea to find someone that will help you with obedience training followed by bite training. I really wanted to go that route with my dog, but the distance I would have had to travel multiple times a week made it impossible for me.

I'd second their protective instincts. I used to travel out of town for a week at a time for a while and I never worried too much. Mine never received formal obedience training much less any bite work. He did however flip out when ever someone would knock on the door or ring the doorbell which is generally a pretty good deterrent.

Her Royal Highness. Calico Persian. She only looks grumpy. Real name: Carley.

Agreed. Someone would have to be crazy to "test" a big dog like that. I only mention bite training for the rare chance that someone gets into the house and actually goes after the dog. There's a good chance if the dog hasn't had formal training, it won't actually do anything damaging to the intruder and may actually retreat.

I feel mostly okay knowing that my dogs are outside quite often and are easily seen. If someone is casing houses, there's a good chance they will automatically skip my house after they see the dogs.

Rescued these two from certain death. Will be gaining a dog brother or sister soon.

Thanks, he's a she actually - and she's a big girl (120lbs), still growing. Have a female pit rescue too and they get along great - their play is hard on patio furniture though LOL.

Well then! She is a beautiful dog! But yea she kinda dwarfs your rescue. Looks like they are having fun. Gotta love the crazy faces dogs make when you take the picture at the right time

The pit is only half the size of the Presa, but she's a solid lump of muscle herself and can hold her own. We got the Presa as a pup not long after getting the pitty girl from a local shelter - she'd had pups herself not long before and just adopted the new Presa pup as her own.

This wife picked this guy up a while ago and has since added another, "because it was lonely". Sulcata tortoise, they're interesting now, but if they survive, they will long outlive me and can reach 150+ pounds.
