The thread mentions L&M's, but you mention a little above that you're going baby CJ's. Can you specify just which cams you ended up going with?

How does it idle? By "pick it up", did you drive it home? Or did you have it towed?

It drives ok without a tune, and Shaun approved of it. It idled fine, I was in heavy traffic most of the 30 minute trip, and there were no driveability issues with that. The TiVCT will not be correct until the base tune comes, so it is down on power. There was a bit of hesitation with anything more than gradual acceleration but im guessing tuning will address that

I really noticed the power gains from about 4500 on up. You are gonna love these cams, the engine just keeps on pulling up to your rev limit. I shift around 7800 and it seems to want more, but I still have stock valve springs so the rev limiter at 8000.
Only issue I had was getting the idle dialed in. Seemed to keep hunting and didn't want to settle in, but my tuner made that go away. Other than that the car runs like a raped ape.
I am real curious to see what happens with bcj cams coupled with these L&M intakes.
Be sure and post a graph along with all your mods. I have a set of exhaust cams still in the box, but can't decide if I want to put them in or not right now. Prolly wait and do the heads, then put them in.

Can't wait to see your results! I've got a new motor, which I'm planning to put these cams in, I already have baby cj exh cams as well.

I just got the base tune this morning, so I will set up a dyno session soon. Shaun was spot on. I started the car this morning without a tune revision and it drove to work just like any other day. Maybe it took some time for the o2s/fuel trims to react appropriately. This might be good reference for people running new modifications in the future.

So the car fell on its face when I went to pull a 3rd gear WOT datalog. I tried another two times with the same result. It is plausible that I was sold the wrong exhaust camshafts, because switching from the base tune to another tune fixes all drivability problems.

I sent Ford Racing the grind numbers a month ago, and they verified the camshafts are 290 duration/11mm lift; however, the car still falls on its face when the exhaust TiVCT is altered from the original state.

I will just dial the car in and call it a day if this is the case. I am livid right now, and probably would have just kept the car as is if I knew that only one set of camshafts was correct. Thanks for following, but I think I screwed the pooch on this one.

Do you still have the original boxes the cams came in? What were the part numbers on them? At least you've got a tune that fixes the driveability issues. Are the new assumed cams worse than what you were hoping for?

Ya, I bought the cams from a reputable seller on this forum, and they came in the original boxes with the grind numbers printed on the outside (as well as stamped on the camshafts). Shaun says the new cams are probably the boss 302 exhaust cams which are the same duration as stock cams, but with 13mm lift.

Jumpmaster, so they sent you the wrong cams?

The camshafts are what they are, the seller thought they were the baby cobra jet camshafts. Ford Racing says they are the baby cobra jet camshafts per the grind numbers stamped onto them. I am going to re engage Ford Racing on Monday to see what they say. I just want to get it running; I am thinking about selling the car.

I would verify they are installed correctly and make sure the car is timed correctly before assuming you have the wrong parts. I know this can be frustrating but be patient and everything will work out. Are you able to pull the front cover and verify timing?
