Sorry to hear about your dad's situation. $$$ and family causes problems often. Reminds me of when I was younger and my Grandma passed. My dad was in the military and we were on the other side of the world. My dad's only brother told him that "mom" was in the hospital on like a Wednesday. When my dad called to get an update a few days later, his brother told him she died Thursday (3-4 days ago at the time of the call). Didn't even bother to call him to tell him.
By the time my dad could get off work, and travel to NY for the funeral, my grandma's house was barren. Uncles kids had looted the entire house and took everything they wanted. Tore wallpaper off the walls and carpet up looking for money stashes. My dad visited his "family" and got to see all his mother's belongings at each one of my uncles kids houses he visited. They left him a box of stuff nobody wanted... My dad had been sending thousands of dollars to his mom every month only to find out that she gave it all to his brother to re-model his house. Same brother called my dad a few months after she passed, asking him for money to save "mom's" house from being repossessed by the bank. My dad told him only if he signed over the house. Uncle refused and the bank got the house.

My thoughts parallel those above. Takes a real low-life piece of shit to steal from their parent like that. Hard to believe your sister was able to hide this behavior from the rest of the family for so long. Hope they do serious time.
