I'm guessing that was playing at 1080p?

Correct. I know at a higher resolution the CPU utilization would back down and put more stress on the GPU, but I'm content playing at 1080p right now.

Friend of mine bought one, very sick card. I am going to get one when they become available, not sure if im going to get a FE card and then water cool it later or wait for an EVGA hybrid card

Yea, I'd love a 1080 Ti, but the price is crazy right now. Hopefully AMD has an answer so Nvidia is forced to drop the price.

I'm waiting to hear if MSi and Corsair will be making a 1080 Ti Sea Hawk. If so, yeah, I'm getting one. Otherwise I'll sell my 1070 Sea Hawk for the standard 1080 version.

And considering the price of a Titan, a better card (almost) all around costing $500 less is actually a considerable bargain. But you can stop holding your breath for AMD to save the day with an even better card for less. Lol

I hope AMD does come to the table with something. Not that I will ever buy AMD but it will force intel to do a little better business. Shouldn't have such a shortage of a product they knew would be in high demand, allowing such price gouging is ridiculous.

After a couple missteps on behalf of the USPS, I finally have my CPU back from delid and back in my PC making steam! Previous best results were 4.8GHz @ 1.34V with core temperatures reaching 78, 82, 78 and 87°C, respectively.

New bests are 5.0GHz @ the same 1.34V with temperatures lower than with the slower speed. Max temperature was 76°C using v26.6 of Prime95 of all programs, for 15 minutes. 0 errors, 0 warnings.

Like an idiot though, I forgot to screen cap the results. So tomorrow after work I will be running another stress test for proof so it doesn't seem like I'm just BSing everybody. I'll also upload a picture my nifty external drive like I said. :)

Thanks for the help everybody!

Sweet deal!!

Any theories on why I can't make it past three seconds in OCCT, but I can score a heck of a score in Cinebench, run 15 minutes of Prime95, etc. without issue? Oh, and most importantly, I can do with my PC what I normally do without elevated temps, bottlenecking, etc.

zhisel,

Any update on the pics for the hidden optical drive?

Sorry its taken impossibly long. I've had this photo for a hot minute but I kept forgetting to upload it. Anyway, here's your underwhelming picture of the day:

And yes, it's plugged in and fully functional in this picture.

That looks great!

Thanks man! It's attached to the desk via two square 3M double-sided pads, then nicely managed and plugged into my USB extender which is also secured the same way.

I plan on redoing some of my management this weekend, at which time I will upload the fruits of my labor.

Case opinion:

Phanteks Enthoo Evolv or NZXT S340 Elite

I like them both, but there looks to be a lot more cooling options with the Evolv (ie: multiple radiators, push pull cofigs, etc). The S340 is beautiful (and cheaper) but you can only do a single radiator and it can only be set up to push.

1080ti should be here tomorrow, can't wait :D

Nice! What are you upgrading from? I guess i'll wait for a strix or some OC release. I have text alerts from nowinstock but they're gone in 5 mins.

Do tell what you think about it tho, i have a regular 1080 and nothing wrong with it but TI is just an impulse buy for when they finally make a 4k 1ms 144+ hz monitor.

As a previous S340 (non-Elite) owner, Enthoo Evolv > that.

NZXT makes some super awesome cases that are stupid easy to work in and cable manage with, but like you said, it has its limitations when it comes to fans, radiators, etc. Had I not been so dead-set on an all Corsair build, I would be rocking a Phanteks case with a 360mm liquid cooler and other non-Corsair goodies.
