The father of one of my best friends has been into this for a long time. He's been trying to get us into it for a while. His car is nuts and honestly terrifying. I think it's only about 100hp but weights nothing.

I can not wait to try one, we have a mini version of our track being built on site for pro level karting.
You can kart on full tracks. I prefer road racing them because sprint tracks are a lot of work, are more difficult to drive, and leave you feeling like you went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. Things happen so fast in a higher powered karts that sprint tracks get frustrating if you're not hitting every line. They're better suited for slower 4 strokes imo.

I think my boss is about to have a mental breakdown. She needs me to do too much still. I can't finish all of it.

Customers are asking to have a teleconference with me today about who knows what.

She's trying to isolate me so no one interrupts me.
Are you sure it's your boss having the breakdown?

Definitely get her into an open wheel car, nothing like it!...

I race a 125cc shifter kart. They're considerably more brutal and turn faster lap times on medium sized tracks. Guys in expensive cars tend to scoff at the karts off as kid's toys but they're a hell of a lot faster and a lot more exhilarating. An MP41C was seeing exit speeds of 30-35 mph on a corner near the pits at a local track.....I come out of the same corner at 70 mph.

Open wheel cars and karts are the way to go IMO.

This x 10000.

Nice Road Rebel! I have the same kart but have a TAG motor sitting next to me (engine was a gift and got a great deal on the chassis).

Not directed at anyone in particular......these karts will pull 2-3g’s in turns. That’s enough to crack ribs and I know quite a few guys it’s happened to (google karting rib protector if you think I’m full of it). A 10-15 min session on a 1/2 mile technical track is about all most people can handle.

And it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on four wheels. :)

Open wheel thread and you’re talking about work.

What does this post have to do with this thread topic?

I think he meant that he can better focus on what he is going to say on his teleconference call if he isolates himself in an open wheel car.
You're welcome

I have done about 130 SCCA race weekends, club and pro racing. My screen name might give you a hint of what class. I personally decided I was not interested in racing open wheel at the club level. Interlocking wheels can cause some horrible incidents. If I were to upgrade I would stick with something with fenders (radical for example).

Real race cars on a track, kicks the crap out of any street car (within reason). Karts are amazing also, and are far from kids toys. I once broke a rib, didn't crash, was g loads / ferocity (wasn't wearing flak vest).

Get into it, you will love it. Also keep in mind, there are lots of rental options to help you figure out what type of car works for you, without buying a car, and the support (truck and trailer for instance). These same places, often provide prep and transport, making things easier.
