Best tire sizes for traction AND handling?

I don't just like going fast in a straight so I need the correct sidewalls for handling. I'm thinking 275/40/17 NITTO nt555 G2s for rear, and 245/45/17 for fronts (can I go 255?). How about NT05 for rears? (how long do they last though). This is all on stock 17x8 I can't afford wider wheels. Anything better than nittos btw?

Yes for 255's in the front, I run a Kumho 255/45/17 up front and M/T ET StreetI drag radials in the rear 275/40/17. I personally think Nitto 555's suck. Conti's are decent too.

You have to look at tire compound too. Is this your daily? If it's a sunny day car you can get away with a softer tire. I currently run 555 G2's in a 315 in the rear and original 555's in a 275 up front. The car handles really well for me. But when the time comes I'm either going back drag radials or I'm going to try the R888R.

Food for thought about size not always mattering. I ran Sumitomos in a 315. They didn't hook for crap. I even had a point where the car changed lanes when I punched it. My 275 555R's hooked better than those Sunitomos.

Tire choices are you biggest concern I daily drove r888's for a few years. Very decent in the rain and excellent on the dry but they don't last very long. The continental DWS are a good all around tire that will last a little while. As for width that's up to you on stock wheels I would go 255

Well I'm leaning towards the G2's because of the good traction and wear, I don't want drag radials because I care about how long they'll last, 255's in the rear? The only reason I'm going for 275 is because people say with Nittos the sidewalls are thin. I canyon this car alot so I care about handling and don't want to go too wide on these stock wheels. How the hell did you manage 12.7 with exhaust only lol? How does a 320 hp car get 12.7 lol.

Back when I had stock rims I ran a Nitto 275 in the rear. It didn't bulge too bad IMO.

Did it handle well? Any pics?
It handled well enough for me. I'm mostly a canyon carver and taking on/off ramps fast. Not on my phone. I got rid of the stock rims on that car back in 2010.

Chrome FR500's. Nitto 555 G2 in 315/35/17 in the rear on 10.5" rims and old school Nitto 555 in 275/40/17 on 9" rims in the front.

I have 265/35-18 nt555 g'2s on the front and 305/35-18 r888s on the rear. Very nice combo and the nittos handle nicely.

255 for the front.
I had 275 rear and 255 front and it was a great match.
I just got 245 on the front and car cuts in to turns nicely but FE does't hold as well around the turns.
I can't attack a corner like used to as I seem to be getting more push now.

Here's my stock rim with a 275 Nitto drag radial. Sidewall doesn't bulge much. The tire just happened to be in a background pic. I can get a better show when I get home if you want.

I've actually been 12.6 @114 since then lol. 4.10 gears bassani x and slp catback. I've never understood this car honestly, it's always over performed for a 300 hp car.

Aren't these Cobras just insane? I had a 2017 GT Performance Pack, and I swear to God my 4.30 99 Cobra would walk it.

3.73 are excellent too, a lot of people talk down on them, driven a 2001 with them and they're still 10x better than 3.27 stock.

My only complaint with the 4.10 is the rpm's with the 3650 at interstate cruising. This car will never see forced induction so a t56 is bad gearing for a N/A setup so unless I can adapt a 3160 I'll probably end up going with a gforce or promotion transmission with a different overdrive gear.
