They are totally worth it. Worse case scenario is you hate it and sell it for 4x what you paid the next time a Dem gets the Oval Office lol

Thinking about picking up a Gen5 19 today. Blue Label dealer near by has all the sight options. The Ameriglo Bold version being 500 flat out the door. Very tempting.

If I can find a decent deal on one, I'll get one.

I'm not renting to buy just to sample, I already have a compact and full size 9mm. I wanted to try a brand I haven't shot for fun. My gun range also has Sigs, Rugers and all the other usual suspects. What should I pull out of the display case?

Like others have said, Five Seven is a good one, and me personally, for an indoor range, I had a blast shooting a Nighthawk 1911 when I went with my father. The high end quality was completely noticeable to any other 1911 I had fired and it was fun. The accuracy and ease of use was unreal, super forgiving.

That's pretty cool. It is mind blowing how fast and accurate some guys are. I practice on an edge timer, random flip with 3 seconds of exposure. When my friends and family go with me, they are blown away at how fast I am. I always tell them... if you think I'm fast, you should come to a Steel Challenge or S3G event. I look like I am in slow motion compared to some of those guys.

I like the Glocks and SIGs for defense weapons because they can be just as dirty as can be... drop them in mud or whatever and just shake them off, and they will keep running. If I was competing, I may not use either of them. LOL

I have had the good fortune to fire a Dan Wesson Elite Series 1911 and good God was that pistol awesome. At 10 yards, you had to try to miss. I just have problems with the $3k+ price tags for great target guns.

I have a feeling you're on the other side of the country or I would swing by for a class. I am always looking to learn more. I am thinking about going through the NRA instructor courses because there are some things I want to do, like live fire shoot house. At all of the ranges around here, only LEO's and instructors are aloud to use shoot houses. I have to imagine the experience is a tremendous educational benefit for clearing houses and shoot/no-shoot situations.

Pretty sure I am one of the furthest from the majority of members here lol. We are still building and fine-tuning the courses but so far it has been great feedback. We are offering things that no other courses would dare to do and we have managed to do it safely. The owner informed me that if he can sell the course to law enforcement and security companies, then he will have me build a CQB course which is what I have always wanted to do. There's no way I can fit it into our 2 day 16hr courses, so it would end up having to be a 3 or 4 part course.

We did a modified El Presidente drill. 3 steel targets at about 7yds, 3 mags of 4rnds each. Fire a pair on the left, pair center... (speed reload)... pair on the right, pair on the center again... (speed reload)... pair on the left again, and then finish with a pair on the center. It was my first time doing it and I managed 10.56 seconds with 100% accuracy. The other instructor with the Sig managed 10.1 seconds at 100%.

I'm not a speed shooter like he is but I am inevitably getting to that point because these guys push you. If you are instructing and look slower or worse than the students than that is a bad look lol. It's good though. I'm enjoying the challenges, and doing this has shown me just how much knowledge I picked while in the Marines.

I finally found some time to dial in the optic on my CZ Phantom. I sent it off to Cajun Gun Works for a Pro Package and to have the slide cut for the optic. It is now the most fun pistol I have ever shot. The DA is around 7 lbs and the SA is around 3 and both are silky smooth.

Here is the result of the first 50 rounds:

10 yards. It’s capable of single ragged hole, but I suck at pistol shooting, LOL. The big thing for me was I finally found an optic that works for my eyes. After double Cateract surgery I can no longer see iron sights.
I wonder what kind of lenses they put back in. I've had double cataract surgery with the artificial replacement lenses set for just distance vision, then secondary cataract surgery to remove scar tissue from both eyes a year later, then a detached retina repair the year after that and I shoot pistol matches without corrective lenses. The front sight is not crystal clear, but I see it okay in daylight.

Edit: I'll add that I don't shoot indoor matches because low light makes it way harder for me to focus.

I see distance reasonably well. But near vision is a thing of the past.

What I found was that with irons I wasn’t using the sights (because I don’t see them) when time became a factor, I was point shooting and hoping for the best. I had an instructor notice it during a timed drill. I hit all the targets, but I didn’t aim, so there were near hits.

As such I am putting red dots or scopes on everything.

Very nice! What kind of butt stock are you going to go with?

It's a pistol...he won't put a buttstock on it.

ARs can be registered as pistols as well. If they are registered that way then it is illegal to put a buttstock on it.

Ahhhhhh gotchya.... makes sense. I was looking at the post on the rear of the weapon and it looked as though a butt stock was needed.
