hey guys wanted to get y’alls input I’m looking into building my rear end as I plan to hit the track this year I have 410 gears in it already but stock diff and axles I’ll be running slicks . I’m around 700 whp, and of y’all running the 35 spline diff with the c clip eliminator setup I looked it up and dayum it’s expensive, but I don’t wanna blow diff going down the track and hitting the wall or something, any advice or different setup y’all recommend id appreciate any info thanks

Upgrade the axles, you can keep 31spline or upgrade to 33spline with and eaton true track. If your gonna be getting launches in a 1.3 60ft look at the 33spline. If your gonna be in a 1.5-1.6 You can stick with the 31spline. But the pricing should be in the same ball park so why not go 33spline axels.

With slicks get 33/35 spline for sure and yes, 35 spline is the best choice. Strange is the only game in town for 35 I believe and I'd assume they have a full bolt in package. I'd forget C-clips though, and go 9" ends.
I have the full Moser 33 spline package that keeps the stock brakes and ABS with 9" ends and a 33 spline Eaton Detroit TrueTrac.
If you plan on keeping the car and enjoy drag racing it, think LONG and hard about a full 9" swap.
If I did it again, I'd definitely do that as it's ultimately stronger, has many more upgrades, but mainly 3 pinion supports so you're big money 8.8 isn't a whiny bitch after launching your 4000# big torque stick GT500.

35 spline now available and no way I'd spend money on 31 spline anything for these cars.

But isn't it only one option for that currently? I agree about upgrading but wasn't sure there were much options for the 35spline vs the 33spline. Unless it's gonna be a hard core drag car.

Ya I saw that strange sell the 35 diff for 1295 and the 35 spline axles and
c clip eliminators kit for 650 almost couple thousand bucks are the nine inch ends a must ?

Yes Strange is the only 35 spline option, but Strange is the best option IMO. It's what I run in my race car and what I would have chosen for the GT500.
Eaton/Detroit Truetrac second best in 33 spline.
OP has an aftermarket clutch and 4.10s, with slicks that stock rear will whine first pass guaranteed.
Manny you don't need C-clip eliminators with the 9" ends, so it's a wash.
Selling your current rear axle and buying a bolt in 9" is probably the best idea, but 35 spline/9" ends second best.

Really depends on what you are going to use the car for. If it’s gunna live at the strip do as J said and go straight to the 9” options. If you’re going to be more street/strip 35 will do. If it’s a grocery getter just leave it alone lol

I have the Strange 35 spline set up. I retained stock brakes and ABS.

Did you do the 9 inch ends on your axle or did you do the c clip eliminators ?

9" ends will eliminate c clips... They bolt your axle ends to the axle housing so they don't slide out when/if the axle breaks.. so the c clips are reduntant.

33 spline true Trac won't break until you get high power and traction... they'll just whine after first launch because it's still an 8.8 and the pinion gear shaft just isn't stout enough to resist deflection.

If you build an 8.8, get the yukon pinion spacers to replace the crush sleeve and a girdle. They make 8.8 girdles set up for our diff coolers.

You should be able to keep your stock brake system, it's easy enough to design in. Check with the vendor to make sure before purchasing. If they don't have the holes in the right places, look for another vendor.
Make sure the installer welds your ends on straight and find someone who can do a real 4 wheel alignment afterward. My custom axle ended up toe out/camber out, was all over the track and ford would only argue with me about why side tracking/thrust angle shouldn't cause stability issues.

I already have the Yukon solid spacer replacing the crush washer l, also have the Griggs girdle with the stud kit, and welded axle tubes the reason I wanted to do the eliminator kit instead of the weld on ends for the exact reason you mentioned the possibility of them getting welded crooked.

Make sure the people welding the ends on have the bar they stick down the axle. That's how they tell if it's straight, it's how they line up to weld them on.
If you're near Denver, go to Mark Williams Enterprises. They did a good job for me.

I have a 8.8 with 9 inch ends welded on by Moser. With 33 spline axles 4:10 and Moser wavetrac. I am going to sell . I also have brand new set of Ford racing 3:73 and pinon bearing. I swapped to Strange 9 inch .

with 700 whp thats low 10's high 9's. 31 splines and an eaton posi/tru trac or whatever is all u will ever need unless u plan on going deep into the 8's which pretty much no one ever does ever in their lifetime!

my car made probably 20 mid 9 second passes off the transbrake going 146-147 mph with STOCK axels, a STOCK rear end and a STOCK driveshaft!

Its all upgraded now but only cause I make a lot more power now. and u don't need slicks. MT Radial Pro's is all u need. they have gone deep into the 6's at 250 mph.

Very good 8.8 build. What options or parts did you go with on the 9"?
I'm assuming I'll eventually have a 9" swap and just wanted to see what Strange recommends.
