Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

Why could GM manage to address those same issues with a bigger displacement motor even? I'm a Ford faithful to the core but damn... You have always gotten less for your money.
Ohv heads are smaller. So the total package is smaller.

Gm heads always flow as well or better than mod motor heads. They are smaller than mod motor heads so the entire package weighs less.

This is what drove me to the Camaro. It killed me, but now I'm happy as $hit. Add the stupid Ford ADM and it was a done deal.

Ive been over new cars for awhile now, just too much flashy stuff that jacks up the price.

However, I am getting more and more disgusted with Ford. They have always pulled this shit.

94-95 everyone wanted a 351 mustang and ford had the tooling to do it. Nope

99-04 everyone wanted a 5.4 mustang to compete with LS1. Ford proves it can be done with the 2000 Cobra R. Chooses not too.

05-10 designed a complicated 3V 4.6, carryover Mach1 4V would have been much better for enthusiast customers. Nope

Now 5-6 year wait for the flagship car. The competition has been putting out HUGE numbers for a few years and all we get is teaser pics? Couple that with what is looking to be a GT350 engine, minus flat plane crank but with a blower... They could have brought that package to the market two years ago.

Its going to be an $80k car, I'm not their market and doubt anyone cares but **** me

Dohc is a scam to take the moneys. All of the moneys, and time.

Hahaha but honestly, under 800hp, ohv is the easy button

Compare the LT1 and 2018 5.0. Mod for Mod the 2018 makes more power, 501 at the wheels with intake, long tubes, and E85, we've all seen the article by now. I believe an LT1 with those mods only makes like 460-470. It will make more torque, but the 5.0 has enough gear and power band that torque "almost" becomes irrelevant from anything but a dig.

That being said, in every iteration before the 5.0 GM engines have more or less shit on Ford's. The 4.6 in almost every form was a turd and i am aware of that.

Since when?
Less for money, according to who? Well in the 90’s the Camaro was faster they were ugly and so poorly made they discontinued them.
In 03+ SVT destroyed the Camaro all the way up to the zl....scratch that including the zl1. Van had a nice thread on it summer of 12. I’m forgetting the z28 that was immediately sold for $25k under asking price since no one wanted it. Even today the brand new zl1/1le are selling for thousands less the msrp and the older slower gt350 are selling for more the msrp and even more than the vaunted zl11le.

Yes Ford is so behind....

I don’t see how a 2 valve head will ever flow as well as a 4 valve. Your statement doesn’t make sense. I won’t argue that LS motors are more compact, and of a simpler design. The reason modular motors make as much power as as larger single cammed one from GM is primarily due to better flowing heads.

When your flagship car has been absent from the lineup for 4 years, that's kind of the definition of behind.

Love the GT350, but it doesn't scare anybody on the street. Certainly not the competitions power adder cars.
As much as I love the Terminator, it wasn't what most of us where driving. And let's be real, Ford needed a blower to compete.

Stock for stock, a 351 95 Cobra R would be a good race for a 03 Cobra, mids 12s with a decent driver. Ford could have provided that kinda of performance much sooner in the game and at a cheaper cost to both produce and sell.

I get certain frustrations, but when they become "Ford can't keep up with the competition... their cars are too pricey... they are too slow to production", then it gets a little bit irritating. A lot of you are not taking into account the entire portfolio of performance vehicles Ford offers (that you would drive in a heartbeat), and how that accounts for overall resources. You are upset because the Mustang hasn't kept up with the Camaro and Challenger and all of the models they offer. Well, let's look at the performance vehicle portfolios of each brand. Chevy has the Corvette and Camaro... that's it. They don't have an answer to the Focus RS, let alone the ST in any trim of the Cruze. Chevy has the 2nd best selling truck yet they dont have an answer to the Raptor. Chevy also doesn't have an answer to the FGT in regards to a mid engine rear wheel drive supercar although the Corvette will likely morph into that. Dodge does not have an answer to the RS, Raptor, or FGT either and their only competitive vehicle to it is now defunct... again.

Ford offers a lot of cool vehicles that are unmatched in their segments yet they are "failing" somehow because one single model in the Mustang hasn't come out to answer even though it is in development and they already have arguably one of the most praised sports cars ever made in the GT350. A lot of us won't even be able to afford the GT500 yet here you are still here bitching about a slow release because you don't want the perception of Ford falling behind the curve. But why aren't you excited about all of the other great vehicles they offer? Is it because you have a short attention span and those cars are old news? That's your problem. You can't afford the high price tag? Guess what? Most of their vehicles are the best bang for your buck on the market so if you still can't afford it then again, that is your problem. I can't afford any of them new, but what do I do? I work and wait til I can buy a good low miles car used if I want it that bad. It's not Ford's fault you don't make enough to afford their cars when millions of other people do make enough to purchase them new.

Ford is pretty much dominating everyone else in unique product offerings. They aren't doing what Dodge does by squeezing in the same powertrain into every model they offer and slapping an SRT badge on it. I admit it is fun on the street but it is not exactly special. Ford and GM were doing that over a decade ago but have since diversified their vehicles so that each are unique in some way. If Dodge sells more SRTs because of it, good for them, but they are still a tanking manufacturer with poor quality in comparison.

If you are going to bitch then at least bitch about viable things. Understand that manufacturers can't just shit the cars out that you want at your every whim.

You’re right it sucks to have a dohc N/A or blown like MB, BMW, Ferrari, etc have. After all those companies are wrong and you and gm are correct. I mean that’s why people pay more than msrp on their power trains.

Lol! No one is afraid of the GT 350 yet the car has the highest NA HP rating of anything on the market for less than 100K, ANYWHERE. And it took GM and Dodge adding blowers to compete with it. Maybe that's why they still sell the R for more than MSRP while the ZL1 has discounts. Lol

I hear you on what you are saying.I am sure there is a good reason its taking FORD so long. When the new GT500 comes out it will dominate its class!!I think there will be something else for the demon though.People have forgot that the 2000 cobra R destroyed any CRAPMARO on the track and it took Garbage Motors to 2015 i think to come out with the z28 as a track car.I remember al .o. the SCRAPMARO leader saying FORD would have an answer for the z28,well a short time later the 350 R came and beat it.FORD is gonna make a hell of a statement when that car comes out.

Let's just hope it's not like when the 99 Cobra was released....

No one races on paper. The GT350 is an amazing track car that is gutless where it counts on the street. The competitions supercharged car were available before the GT350 anyway.

As someone who owns a gt350... I'm telling you that you are wrong. The car is a 12.1-11.9 drag car all day, and it was designed for road course and top speed. If people aren't having fun on the street or can't keep up with the competition, it's because owners aren't driving them they way they should.

Where it counts? To who? Drag racers and street racers? Ever consider the fact that not everyone gives a shit about that?

Agreed. I never thought of my 350 as gutless. Lol

No doubt. I've had mine scare the hell of out me on more than a few occasions.

And I'n not some doof with no experiance. I had a 2013 GT500, and currently own (performance wise) a 16 GT350, 16 Challenger Hellcat, a 17 Cali Special and a 17 GT Track Pack. The GT350 is by far my favorite to drive on the street.
