Every now and then i get on youtube to see whats new.

There are tons of new people with their own channels and they're blowing up. The things that they broadcast are downright dumb but yet people worship them.

Has anyone ever thought of starting their own channel?

I have...

You have to have a good personality/be entertaining to make it work. And before you say "but the dumb people are doing dumb things" realize that dumb has an entertainment value.

An entertainment value or have we as a society lost intelligence as a whole?

I attempted to start one of my cobra. Streetspeed717, vehicle virgins, rp productions were all inspirations. I bought go pros and editing software and discovered its really hard to talk to a camera. And I found editing to be difficult too. Just an easy 7 minute video took me 3 hours to edit. If you want success on youtube you literally have to post once a day or every other day. At that rate I would have ran out of content to provide based around my cobra in a couple months. I may try again.

Like anything, The really successful ones are naturally talented and then take advantage of it and bolster it with a large financial and time investment. I follow a few golf channels and the amount of behind the scenes work it takes is staggering.

Another thing to think about is youtube changed the standards to be able to get revenue from ads. You need to have 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time then you are put on a waiting list for your channel to be reviewed. which can take months.

I have a buddy who started one about cars. Shows basic installs/stuff he does to his car. Think he pulls in a couple hundred a month now.

Another one tried to do some dumb shit with his wife. Failed lol

What makes him success outside of his outgoing personality is his age. I think hes like 17-18 and hes being on youtube for a few years. Most youtube viewers are between like 8-15 years old so they find him relatable.

Another thing to note is that for every one person that actually makes money from their Youtube channel, there are hundreds of thousands that fail.

I always wanted to do a Corvette past and present type channel, still sort of kicking it around. Where I take a vette and totally break it down to how many was made and just how rare it is with the options it has. That and the backstory to it. Sort if I take a 1982 collector edition and break it down on what it got and how it came into existence. Hence Corvette past and present.

Just like my 2016 it was only 359 with Kalahari interior out of the 1618 Stingray coupes made in Long Beach Red Metallic.
