Agreed. Though I just got a thing in the mail, dont need to even see a smog guy until 2022 since they extended the 7yr rule to 9yrs. Then even at that its scanner only. Got my OEM ECU for that (plus swap it for dealer trips, never know when these asshats will flash stock firmware thinking theyre doing you a solid not knowing they wiped a $400 tune).

Yeah 2000+ is OBD2 only. Pretty easy actually.

I didn't know they changed the new car rule from 7 to 9 years. Good to know but be wary that there are exceptions to that!

Bought my 2016 Ram 2500 diesel brand new in Feb of 2016 and had to smog it last year for tag renewal. Im hoping it's because it was diesel but who the hell knows.

Guess we'll see when I get Mustang tag renewal in the next month or so.

they did something similar here in Houston a few years back, where they had test equipment setup on the shoulder of a few freeways...don't think that initiative ever got any traction or real funding, thank god....

Wondering if they will **** with me if I registered my cars in walker county at my inlaws

This makes me wonder about the future of all of the "lawyer daddy" trust fund kids with Youtube channels showing off the straight-exhaust Aventador they were given for getting a C on their report card.... How will they survive? Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?!?!?!

"Yo yo yo this is Chaz here with another installment of "I'm rich and you're not" Today I'm paying someone $10,000 to clean a bug off my Veyron's windshield so I'm going to review it for my peeps out there. I'm only 16 and I'm poor so donate to my patreon"

All those wastes seem to congregate in CA

Ah ****ing technology.

Still not worried, have all my cats and my shits tuned.

plus, "(3) Vehicle owners are mailed a letter asking them to participate in a voluntary vehicle repair program."

So, like jury duty, shred it.

I’ve lived in this state long enough to know they’ll just station some poor cop at the gore point with a list of ‘repeat offenders’ to pull over. That preening peacock Newsome is gonna get tough on c02 outlaws! (IF he can tear himself away from the mirror long enough).

Wonder if anything with a cat delete would fail that sniffer? Even if properly tuned

Do we have any actual LEO's out there from CA that can attest to this whole thing? SO far all the fb groups are in a hissy but to me it sounds like more of the same. These types of things give cops ammo to go after the douchenozzles who run around with chopped mufflers and no cats. Me with a simple catback? Not too worried.

However, sounds like theres a $1k fine regardless, yet they give you a ref ticket, and then say you go to ref it and you are within the legal decibel limit (ie 95db @ 25', which it takes quite a bit to go over that), does that mean you can fight that $1k fine in court once its proven you are not violating the ref (supercedes) limit? Why should anyone have to pay a fine if the ref says theyre good to go?

You are right that the chances of being pulled over for the sound of just a catback is pretty slim.

But no aftermarket catback (for Terminators) will pass the decibel test if you get sent to the ref.

Pure sarcasm but it may take off...
So what would happen if your "snow plow" took out the whole testing station?
Maybe if it became a common occurence.....
I know they tried to put up some traffic cameras in a local city and the darn things kept getting shot up and were never working....

Feel sorry for you guys.

What California's New Exhaust Law Means For Drivers

January 1st, 2019 California enacted Assembly Bill AB1824 making modified exhaust a non-correctable violation, meaning it's no longer a "fix it" ticket and can cost you, according to some up to $1,000, even for a first offense. According to what we found in the California Bail Schedule should be more like $280. Already social media has been flooded with stories and videos of people being pulled over and issued tickets for having an exhaust that is too loud.......
There is no other way around folks, to afford their liberal progressive agenda, somebody has to pay. Just move to real America and avoid those stupid laws.

Just wait until they completely prohibit the sale of all non-OEM equipment that affects emissions or sound. Vendors will not even be legally able to ship their products to the state.

That day will come. Stripping your freedoms away, one stupid little law/regulation at a time.
