No it likely won’t be anything as special as the last one but neither of them were built for nastolgia. This one is riding on the coat tails of the last ones image and people will buy it because of that.
As far as the power in stock form no one talks about the 2JZ being a factory power house they speak about it moded and the BMW motor so far has good results so this new Supra should perform well.
This will likely be a car that is aimed to sell well and make money for Toyota with out huge investment in R&D
More like the newer GT500s just don’t have the cult like following the last Supra did.

LOL. The air box is identical right down to the notch for the support brace but without the brace.
I think that really drives home the point for me.
The only thing Toyota about the Supra is the badge.
Toyota is so lazy that they are keeping thr 5x120 BMW bolt pattern and are using wheel bolts.
The entire car will be filled with Torx, safety-star and other BS German Fastener.
Car is being built by Magna Styer in Graz, Austria.
It is a damn BMW.
On and for modding? The B58 has water cooled exhaust manifold (emissions) that is built into thr head and a water cooled intake manifold. Oh that will be fun.
This engine is more crampes then a 300ZX TT or a 3000GT VR4. So much for the simplity of an I6.
