With a level of scientific ecidence greater than a potato farmers biased observations lol
I really don't understand why some of you guys are entertaining this stupidity. We don't have to prove the earth is a sphere (i know, close approximation to) these time wasters have to prove it's flat or what every other dumb ****ing shape they think it is.
Pure and utter boredom while being amused by the imagination some people have.I really don't understand why some of you guys are entertaining this stupidity. Biased? Based on what? With a level of scientific ecidence greater than a potato farmers biased observations lol
In his mind he is proving the earth is flat based on the fact that he can see his stop sign.
Just to keep it going I would have said the bullet traveled at 1800fps during the mid air flight. Then I would have left, smiling, knowing that I just started an endless debate."I'm just saying it's technically possible to orbit a 2D object like the flat earth in this case. "
This whole thing reminds me of a conversation in a local gun shop. Three fellows were discussing what would happen if a person standing in the front of a plane travelling at 900 fps shot a pistol with a muzzle velocity of 900 fps at a person in the rear of the plane. I told them an observer on the ground would see the bullet accelerate to 0 relative to the ground, while the plane dragged the guy in the back of the plane into it at 900 fps. The people in the plane would notice no difference from any other shooting.
One of the guys said, "I know that's what the physics says, but is that what really happens?" To which I replied, "First off, I don't believe for a second that you knew that is what the physics says. Second, what do you think physics is?"
It took me a while to convince them this was not some mysterious, burning question in physics, the answer to which no one really knew for sure.

I would love to see a picture of the other side of the earth. Why don't you guys just get together and travel to the edge and prove the world and scientists wrong. You'll all be famous
Or look at the math and tell me where I'm wrong?
Not proving anything. Just asking questions.
Think of it this way. Set the stop sign elevation as zero. You are 92ft in elevation higher than the stop sign. Plus the 5' you gave yourself for your curvature in your calculation. So your eyesight level is 97' higher than the stop sign.
Here is the calculation for those parameters:

Basically the elevation change is enough to cancel out the curvature making the stop sign 100% visible as long as your vision is up to the task.
That is the simplest way I can explain it for you.
Ok.

So no rebuttal to my explanation for your stop sign?
Some people go full retard. Never go full retard.
I have logged on many times just to see what direction this thread has gone.I literally signed into my phone just so I could like this post and tell you this was one of very few times I laughed literally out loud.
Yes, and your ship could be DIW and from any direction you’d observe the same phenomenon as ships arrived and departed on any bearing.I remember being out at sea in the Navy and seeing ships miles away. You could just see their mast but not the ship. I remember saying to myself often..."Yup..the earth is flat". No....no I didn't.
