Before I abandon this set up for most likely one of the new PD's or a Turbo I was wondering if anyone has been successful in eliminating belt slip?
I recently put on a 3.33 pulley with the wastegate & 100" Green belt but lost 60 rwhp. I felt underneath the pulley & sure enough there was belt dust.
The belt is on as tight as can possibly be. There is less than a 1/4" of movement in the tensioner. In fact I broke the original tensioner trying to walk the belt on.
I am still on the 6 rib and contemplating picking up an 8 rib set up and going with the 3.125" w/ wastegate & high traction pulley or the grip rite.
Has any of you experienced slip before and gone to the 8 rib? If so did it eliminate your slip?
The reason for staying with the Paxton would be that I could spend my money on a built short block & fuel system instead of a whole new FI set up. I know the Paxton can make big power but I'm afraid it'll still be boring on the street, And it is a street car after all, full weight vert 6r80 3.15 gear street car.
If I go with a new FI set up I'll have to run it on low boost until next year when I can afford to do fuel and short block. Or I could just put it all on my credit card and hide the statement from the wife for the next year.
