Great comparison. Might as well compare a Pinto and an Aztec.....
I come from the n54 world, had the world record for while. You’d be surprised
The n54’s hold 700-800 whp
I think people have gotten the m5 v8 to 1100whp
What’s your point? I could drive an M5 daily and have a new 500 but I don’t want that. There’s always someone with more money. I’m more of an AMG (have had several) than BMW guy, and I’d agree they are close to the ultimate DD now that the E63/M5 are AWD, but as a non-DD ‘fun car’ I’m guessing 9/10 guys would choose a 500.
Hell I turned in a newer ML63s in the middle of winter for a new Hellcat Charger as my DD, just because it has more character. I do miss the AMG massaging seats

Well, a lot of enthusiasts may cross shop between a GT500 and a Corvette. I'm not stating that the M5 isn't a great car, but I do doubt that most here would flip a coin between these two.I come from the n54 world, had the world record for while.
They make great dyno hp, they do not run right for long
It wasnt a jab, just an observation
Why? Everyone wants to compare a gt500 to a c8? Whats the difference? M5 is closer to gt500 than c8 and gt500

@LostM what are the honest weak points of the n54’s?
I’m aware that 2jz’s and rb26’s don’t live up to their hype as well from head gaskets and studs to valvetrain etc.
And exactly why I’ll keep to a proven American muscle platform. You can have a daily worthy, boosted Coyote/Modular at 1000rwhp and the rest of the drivetrain as standard proven Mustang fare.Starts with misfires. And no one can really keep them from coming back, plugs coils injectors need to be kept.on hand. Try as they might, inevitably, it will start missing
Fueling was solved after i left, but that was a big thing.
The autos suck, i was the 1st to attempt to rebuild that at 520hp, that failed
If you keep them under 600, you can get a few good days in, but after that, its a daily struggle. This is why, regardless of the higher hp dynos through its evolution, the stats, 1/4, 1/2 60-130 never followed suit

The DCT is the only wildcard in the new GT500.
Its all if it can hold 1000hp as many suspect.
I have personally talked to Tremec engineers standing at their display truck looking at a cutaway Magnum 6spd next to the 500’s DCT and it is beefy. They were confident in their new product.
Great to have options with so many serious performance platforms.

My real concern would be the DCT tuning.Music to my ears.
Stop wearing sandals in your carpeted garage. Uh, wrong guy. Sorry. My ford stuff breaks. Must be I’m too hard on it.

Mechanotronics (sp?) will hopefully be able to sense more power/load and keep hardcparts happy.
It’s not like DCT is new, but hopefully the Tremec unit proves to be power mod friendly. The conventional 6R80 and now 10R80 has proven to hold big power 100% stock and that is also tuning dependent.
As you know, these won’t be cheap!

Most here cant even afford a 72k gt500. Lol at cross shopping a new m5, starting at 110k.Well, a lot of enthusiasts may cross shop between a GT500 and a Corvette. I'm not stating that the M5 isn't a great car, but I do doubt that most here would flip a coin between these two.
Now that time has set for suspense....
I’d like to point out that the m5 went 130mph in the 1/4 being awd with just 617awhp and 4200lbs.
The gt500 will have 700whp and weigh a sliver less.
135mph will be very uncommon but I personally think it’ll happen on full moons in cold night low altitude environments after a nice hot day to heat up the asphalt/cement

I know modern traction control engineers earn their paychecks, but you have a lot of faith in this car hooking up.
