Let me get this straight....there is a car or cars in the right lane and no car in the left lane as you approach a red light. There is a merge right a few hundred yards through the light. Got it.
If you drop into the line in the right lane instead of taking the empty left one you are a certifiable phag. Everyone just quit trying to pretend they would ever do that. Now, when you hit it hard off the line only to the speed limit it's all good. If the dick beside you matches you, both cars are well ahead of the ones behind the dick and you can easily back off and slide right.
If you ease off the light you can be sure the dick will just match you while all the other dicks behind him will run bumper to bumper to freeze you out and teach you a lesson. They will ignore that most places have laws thar require zippering that never get enforced.
The reason we hate zippering is because we all do it wrong. You are supposed to keep both lanes equally full and same length. No one gets ahead and traffic alternates smoothly. More efficient, safer and no one gets the screw. Never works this way, though, except in places where everyone buys in. Then it's a thing of beauty.
Hate to agree with the young guy because they are generally unemployed millenials living in their parent's basements playing video games in their underwear but sadly he might have nailed it.
