This is the cold, harsh reality. As soon as an accident shows up on a carfax......right or wrong, the value is diminished. Doesn't matter if it was minor and repaired flawlessly.....there is a devalued factor to that car. You have to factor that into the price OR YOU will be the one taking the hit down the line. It never washes off no matter how many times you give it bath.
And I do understand that C6. My Dad purchased a brand new car that had a scratch from the dealer. They painted the fender and he said it did not match. Then they tried to blend the fender and it still did not match. So, my Dad told the dealer to give him a different car because he was not happy with the paint job. So, I get peoples perceptions of cars than have been repaired.
My only point was I thought the devalued factor presented was a bit too high for said "minor" damage. Going from 23K to 19K might be fair, but I thought going from 23K to 15K was a little to much just based on what the OP said. 23K to 19k for "object" damage might be considered reasonable. Going from 23K to 15K is more along the lines of accident type of damage IMO.
However, like a lot of things in the car world, this is subjective. I'm okay buying a car that has been repaired well. On the other hand, my Dad won't even consider buying a car that has been repaired no matter how minor it may have been because of his experience with the dealership.
