I think the age of these YouTube and other Social Media “influencers” or “stars” is going to come crashing down epically for the majority of them. I think what has happened with him is on the lighter side of what we will see.
Like mistletoe, I’m hung where you will see.
I agree. SMI will be a tough to have consistent revenue for 20/30 years.
highly doubt it.
social media is growing... not slowing. Everybody thought when MySpace went downhill it would be the end. Nope
twitter came, Facebook, Snapchat, tik Tok, YouTube.. etc
people are signing guaranteed multi year deals for content creation in the 10s of millions of dollars range. Just to post their content on one specific site
couple that with our reactionary culture we live in.. social media THRIVES on reactionary culture.
take Dan Bilzerian for instance ( people can hate him all they want ) he has 29.5 MILLION people following him. His last picture had 1.5 million likes on it. Which means even though it’s a split second.. 1.5 million people used their thumb to stop- look- double tap just from a picture.
or YouTube for instance. Pewdiepie .. has 102 million subscribers. The population Of the world is what 7 billion or so.
so imagine you have a movie theatre of people around the world. 1 person essentially in that theatre are subscribed to him. Companies realize that.
Companies realize if he says “ Drink Coca Cola or pick your brand ) 1 in 75 people around the world could see “ drink Coca Cola “
Its not going to slow down any time soon.
Most are crap including your example. They are not(for the most part creating businesses or jobs) adding to the economics or the betterment of society.
They will have a hard time creating new content which keeps people coming back month after month.
Put $200k down on they latest car and sure you’ll get a million views. If that’s all you have why will people keep watching month after month let alone if 5 to 10 years?
Like Hollywood and like athletes many will be doing other things a bankrupt in 10 years.
