Wondering what the price tag is on replacing Rods and Pistons to get over that 1000HP hump.

Not talking fuel system, or other goodies.... Just Refresh on the bottom end with new Rods and Pistons.

Parts and Labor.

GO!

Depends on what you have to do with the cylinders. With the spray bore, you don't have much material to do more than a light hone to seat the rings. If that's not the case, you will need to sleeve the block and that should add about 20-25% of the project. I'd say you'd be in the range of $8,000 - 13,000 depending on components. Any reputable builder will give you a quote. That's with you sending your engine to a builder. If you need someone to yank it, strip it, ship it and put it back together, add a few thousand to the total. Then there's all sorts of peripheral things like billet OPGs, chain sprockets, chains, billet tensioners, upgraded pivot points, etc. to help run up the cost.

I always love sending my car to a shop not knowing how much Im going to spend.

Makes perfect financial sense.

the point was to call them. You gonna spend some money. Atleast $12k
The point was to call the best in the business.
Have you made any attempt to research any of the stuff you have been asking lately?

Lol! Exactly what i think when i see a thread from him.

Yes I have. Extensively. Im asking for some of the forums input. Feel free to NOT post comments that aren't productive since you're not interesting in contributing constructively.

Online personal Research can only take you so far. Asking specifics and acquiring different opinions Id consider to be a person doing their due diligence to find out what works best for them.

1. Ive seen that prices on parts vary greatly.
2. Shops tend to charge varying Rates.

Asking for some input from SVTP seems like the prudent thing to do since most are helpful and not looking to Troll outside of smackdown.

Obviously, we have some exceptions...

I did think it was interesting that OP is ready to go deep 8s stock.

8.8 is deep 8s. huh... Didnt realize that.
I planned to do this Stock? also a Shock. could you quote that for me? I cant seem to find me ever saying that.

I asked what it would take to go 8.8 in a 14 Shelby.

Again, some are helpful, others are just here to troll.

I’m not here to troll. I gave a suggestion and you made a smart ass remark.
They clearly have the prices listed on their site which is why I continued with my comment.
You got multiple threads all to do with the same thing. I’m just calling a spade a spade.
Most people with money and skill to go 8’s aren’t asking questions like this and in this fashion.
No harm no foul, but remember when you post smart ass comments when someone tries to give you solid advice.

Chill. I gave you a thoughtful response and posted a link that you could have found yourself. My answer above is from experience having built exactly what it sounds like you want. Cheers.

If you pull the motor and send it as a short block to a builder it will be in the 5-13k range for the shortblock Depending on if it needs sleeved.

2,500 for head porting
1,500 cams
2,500 in timing components
3-5k to assemble it to a long block and degree the cams.
3k if you need a shop to pull and reinstall the motor.
1,000 to port the lower intake

The Blower Thread was to get some discussion going. I already made my selection and gave the reasons behind the choice of the VMP Gen3R.

as for the smart ass remark, I answered you in the same fashion as you answered the thread. I blew it off as irrelevant.

You certainly did. well thought out and informative... and then you took a jab.... Using incorrect information.

Agreed 1000%

Wellll you know... with a New 4300Sq House, a Baby due any day now, 2 Cars, 2 Trucks, 2 Motorcycles
(even thought they are running strong... 3 I still consider works in progress )....

You gotta make sure you ask questions so you can make sure the money goes in the right spot.

So you might be right. Maybe I don't have the Skill or the Money to run 8s in the Shelby.... Maybe Ill save that for the Lightning. Sounds like it might be the cheaper way to go.

Thats also a terriable idea.

If youre only looking to go fast pick up somebody elses already built race car thats proven to run good ET's. Youll save tons of money and even more time.

There's something to be said for building you own stuff... I'm not interested in buying someone else's headaches. My Cars are like family. Plus with all the toys I already have, I don't need a 7th Vehicle.

I do appreciate at least a somewhat constructive post you were able to cobble together... Took you 3 shots but hey... We're making progress!
