Apparently they are taking refundable deposits now and have released pricing info. Still not a production vehicle, agreed.

To go one further, they claim to have a tri motor prototype that has run 9.3
Lucid Has A More Powerful Tri-Motor Air Prototype That Runs 9.3-Second Quarter Miles

They have been taking $1,000 refundable deposits since early November (iirc) it didnt just start now because of the unveiling today. They had a special event earlier in the year for ppl who has preorders and it looks like spoke about then will actually make it to production . The quality and fit/finish is worlds better than a Tesla but with them revealing the price it looks like it will come at a 30k premium over a similar equipt model s

Apparently Brooks from DragTimes reached out to them regarding a test drive and ordering info, and they told him they are taking $7500 refundable deposits at this time.

Will be impressive to see this come to production in this form. Of note is the CEO of Lucid apparently is the guy who was responsible for making the Model S what it is today, so there is some practical experience with bringing a high performance EV to market.

Better yet, they are claiming to have a tri motor prototype that has been 9.3X....

These guys have been working on this for a long time, I remember when they had their financial woes a while back. It seemed like everyone and their neighbor was making an electric car company and most were failing.

It will be interesting to see if they stick around long enough this time.

67% owned by the Saudi PIF, I would think/hope their financial woes are behind them.

Im betting within (5) years one will be able to buy an electric car for under $60k that will beat ANY gas powered vehicles that year that's not an exotic. Its all about the battery technology. Once they master it gas will be a thing of the past.

Were already seeing it with power equipment (Lawn Mowers, Blowers etc......) its not quite up there with gas yet but its only a matter of time and not much time either like in (10) years I bet 90% of the power equipment u buy at Home Cheapo or any other power equipment store will all be electric.

From what I read yesterday about this, the 1080hp version isn't even the limit of that setup. It can be turned up to 1280 I think it was without changing anything so they suspect they are hanging onto that little bit for future upgrade packages and updates.

So far I like the Lucid over the Tesla. The design is not my favorite but the interior and the all glass roof is really nice looking and the whole package is more appealing to me than the Tesla. Would like to see some more exciting designs on these electric cars though. Feel like they are being designed by the Chinese.

Cool demo, but caveat emptor. Their video says "production sedan" but when I go to their site, I can't buy one. There isn't even an ETA for production availability; they have however pushed their production availability date back more than two years already.

I'd wait for the production version, and customer tests, before drawing too many conclusions.
So, HINT HINT, you can go to Tesla's site, right now, and order a Model S Plain that he claims will run 8.9X :0
0-60 in 1.9 and 200 mph top speed.
Also says it will claim production car lap record at Laguna Seca. I feel like he was talking directly at you :)

I'll believe that when I see it.

I know the electric car takeover is coming, and the technology is awesome and the 0-60 times are unreal and on and on...but I just like the old school gas-powered sound, feel, connection. I must be getting old...LOL
