I’m being stingy with my 9mm ammo. I think I have about 2000 rounds. I know a few people that are selling their ammo and guns now while they can make a profit. Who knows how long it’ll be before you can replace your ammo at .19 a round- my guess is it’ll be quite a while.
Not in the next 4 years. Probably gonna be $1.00/round pretty soon for fmj

Do you guys see the demand for ammo and price slowing down at all? Or are we ****ed for at least 4 years?

I really want some ammo but I also don't want to spend $700 for 9mm.

Hard one to predict. I would assume it will eventually drop, but who knows when. With Biden getting elected, my personal opinion...I don’t see prices dropping for a while.

Hopefully they can start to keep stuff on the shelves. Cause right now it seems like a full time job just trying to find ammo.

Hell even 1000 rounds of magtech is close to $700. Places like Bulkammo have it but it's $0.80/round

That's gonna be how they go after gun owners. Jack the price of ammo up until you can't afford to shoot.

I would suggest trying to find guys who reload ammunition as a source to buy from. They’re not going to pop up on searches online, but talking with other gun guys who’ve been in this hobby for a while now would be your best bet. They’ve been sitting on the stuff for a long time and they don’t advertise like other hobbyists do. The gun hobby is so different as you probably already know. I work with a guy who thinks gun buying should be like car buying. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out why when he was looking to buy a shotgun at a local gun shop understand why the owner told him to pound sand when he said, and I quote “you probably paid X dollars for this gun, so I’ll give you X dollars for it and you make X amount off of the deal.” So many people go on the website of a gun shop too, that cracks me up!

While we’re talking about gun prices and ammo, I seen a box of 9mm for sale on consignment at a local gun shop... 50 rounds of 9mm ball ammo.... $85.00 I think it was.

The gun enthusiasts that are the biggest doomsday preppers are the cause of the ammo pricing ridiculousness. As soon as it appeared that Biden would win the election people rushed online and bought up thousands of rounds that they'll likely never use. This causes a shortage of supply, which ammo manufacturers are slow to respond to, so the prices go up.

This situation is similar to the toilet paper stupidness. A few morons panic and buy all the supply. Then the people who actually need it, are **** out of luck.

We just need people to stop being so damn panicky and there wouldn't be as big of an issue to begin with.

mmmm, little different this time around... things have been screwed up since the start of the Rona lockdowns and TP hoarding. There has been a massive influx of new gun owners buying up shit too.

There's also been stockpiling going on by manufacturers knowing that if Biden wins another demand surge is coming and they'll move shit at higher prices.

Yeah, the recent unrest has certainly contributed to some new gun owners and some of the ammo being bought up. But that has been a process over the last 5-6 months. Plenty of time for manufacturers to catch up to the influx. I find it hard to believe that is the major contributing factor in why ammo is in short supply right now.

And if manufacturers were hoarding for more profit then there wouldn't necessarily be a shortage. It would only be a pricing issue. There are a lot of places that you can't even buy from even if you were willing to pay stupid prices. Too much of a stretch for me to believe.

I would have to disagree with the first part, because most enthusiasts reload, keep shot brass and other things and set on them. So, gun enthusiasts isn’t the reason for the shortage. It’s the increase in gun buyers as a whole. Gun sales are at an all time high, and that due to first time gun owners being at an all time high. A primer shortage is one thing driving the shortage and the shutdowns from covid done it as well. Also, suppliers not ramping up production of ammo to meet the demand is another reason.

I was told 2 months ago by my old club i buy ammo from that manufactures won’t be back to pre shortage levels until Nov 2022. I bet its much longer then that and prices will be high 2x as long. Buckle up.

You missed the middle of my first sentence. "The gun enthusiasts that are the biggest doomsday preppers are the cause of the ammo pricing ridiculousness."

I'm not claiming it is all the gun enthusiasts, just the people with the biggest "apocalypse" fears that think they'll need 5k rounds of 9mm to protect their toilet paper stash. LMAO

Nope didn’t miss a thing. I highly doubt there is enough people out there like that with enough money to drive this type of shortage. I’ve been in the hobby/sport for a long time and know several guys personally who run/ own gun shops and not one of them would agree with what you are saying. Guns are flying off the shelves and people need ammo for these guns. Also, manufacturers shutting down due to COVID didn’t help.

One shop owner who I am good friends with talked about one of his suppliers who has a warehouse that I don’t remember the exact square footage of, but all they had pistol wise was cowboy action revolvers and rim fire pistols. They were telling him their warehouse was nothing but empty racks.

I would also add that when you go on different gun sites like Colt for example, they have ZERO guns in stock, I mean none. Doomsday preppers aren’t out buying Colt pistols. Like all other manufacturers, Colt had to shut down due to COVID.

Another thing to remember, not every manufacturer had the ability to just turn up machinery and just make more. Working in manufacturing, I see it all the time. Shortages even when working 7 days a week with your equipment maxed out and you never get caught up.

Ahh...I see what's going on here. You're one of those people I'm complaining about, aren't you? You probably have way more ammo stashed than you will normally use in a year's time. No wonder you're so defensive. Lol
