Are Canadian trucks any different/pose an issue?

Yes, a lot. I've seen 2 year old Canadian trucks that have more rust on them than a 15 year old truck from Michigan. The salt or treatment options they use North of the border is incredibly hard on vehicles.

They typically bring $2-5k less than an American truck.

If the market continues like this after our last planned camping trip of the year I'm going to unload my Ram and then buy again next year before the next camping trip. This crap is crazy. Lol

Also KM per hour and daytime running lights. As all the 03-04 Marauders when they was sold new up there had them and the US spec vehicles didn't and I'm sure that is still in the books up there. Also slight differences in the various electronic and ECU calibrations.

It's extremely frustrating. Ever damned car I want has gone up about $20k. That's like taking $20k and lighting it on fire. If I'm putting $50k down it's now like putting $30k down. I know life's short and all but I may go toyless this year.

I had plans to dump my '06 F150 extended cab early this year before the registration renewal was due and upgrade to a newer crew cab, until I started shopping...

I gladly paid the registration and will drive it another couple years.

People with clean under 200k mile diesel Excursions are literally getting what they paid for them new. They got 20+ years and in some cases nearly 200k miles of use and they can get their money back....

What a time to be alive!
I have an 02 excursion limited diesel with 93k msrp was about 45k new if you know of anyone paying that much please send them my way lol

Ok, maybe not full MSRP but pretty close. You could probably put 40k obo and probably be within a few thousand of asking price if its rust free and in good shape.

7.3 Excursions are extremely sought after. If I could afford one, I'd be all over one in a heartbeat.

More and more temptation to sell my ‘20 raptor
I was offered $9k more than I paid for my Raptor including taxes. The market is nuts.

I have been looking at importing a MKIV Supra from Japan and the prices on those jumped 10k within the last few months. Everything is up and its a worldwide issue.

A number a members from the Tremor forum have been offered what they paid for their trucks in trade in. I don’t know if one who has accepted yet though. This may change with the 22 showing up soon.

I know what you mean I see them all the time for mid 20’s with 2-300k miles what they actually sell for I have no idea but it is insane you are correct. I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago for 25k in Alaska and drove it home only had one owner and 52k miles on it. Have an 02 f250 with 105k I bought 10 years ago with 37k. I personally love the 7.3 I’ve had the new fancy diesels and don’t really like them something about the sound and feel that the new ones just don’t have but I’m obviously impartial.

The used vehicle market is absolutely INSANE. It won't get any better until manufacturers are able to re-stock new inventory, which will hopefully be in the 3rd quarter, if not 4th.

Below is a screenshot of the madness I'm witnessing. This is a 2018 F-150 Crew Cab Platinum 4x4 with just under 33,000 miles. It's a one owner, no accident, no story, etc truck. It has a condition report of 4.3/5, which translates to about $500 of needed reconditioning.

MMR, or average auction price for this truck is $48,500 (which is insane). NADA Clean Trade-In Value is $48,300. The average price listed on Cars.com and Cargurus.com is $46,214/46,688. So yes, the average auction price is $2,000 higher than the average selling price.

This sold to Bill Knight Ford in OKC for $51,500. On top of that, they will have to pay a $425 auction fee, and between $300-350 to ship it from KC to OKC. So before they recondition it, they will own it for almost $52,500.

When this truck was new, it had an original MSRP of $65,315 and a dealer cost of $58,930.28. Then there were at least $1,000 in rebates, if not $2,500. So worse case, you could've purchased this truck for $58,000 or so....3 years ago.

I don't mean to hijack this thread (I couldn't find the ask a dealer thread in my impatient search)

Is it safe to assume that msrp for a vehicle = about 110% of dealer coast?

Good time to be a wholesaler. Yes it’s a seller’s paradise. But if you need inventory you’re gonna pay. Cost is just gonna get passed on. You can’t sell what you don’t have nor is having a vacant lot. Not saying it’s right but it unfortunately the case. No one wants to be holding the potatoe once the market crashes here though. Although I don’t see it swinging soon others would rather have an empty lot than buy. Also good time to be in transport, those guy are making fist full of cash.

i simply cannot fathom buying used right now, that’s assuming you aren’t in a hurry and can order that model new.

looked again at trackhawks last night, and i ****ing give up man! an 18 model with 45k miles is about 10k less than a brand new one lol.

so you think they can actually catch up this year though? i can wait a year...i just can’t wait 3-5, my JKU is strugglebussin...

Local used car guys are combing marketplace and craigslist just to get something on the lot. If the Maverick was out, I would trade in the Mariner in a heartbeat.

Then you got a rental car shortage too. National chains are calling on dealers in lue hoping to buy new aged units because they can’t get factory units in a lot of models. In the same way, the flux of rental companies not selling wholesale hasn’t helped the selection of used cars nationwide.
