I just picked up a set of 18x11 rear wheels to use as a drag setup just for fun and I'm wondering what people have had the best luck with. I am limited to an 18" wheel with my coil over suspension so that is the smallest diameter I can run.
I wouldn't be afraid to run those but I'm not sure the two sizes they list will work. I'm told a 315 is as wide as I can run with my suspension and the 305 option they list is 29" tall and how I have the car sitting that may be too tall. I'm running about a 27" tire right now.
Imo....if I was in that predicament I'd take a good look at Nitto NTO5R. It's a good tire next in line to the Mickey Thompson.I wouldn't be afraid to run those but I'm not sure the two sizes they list will work. I was wondering about the new 555 R2 G2I haven't run either in an 18 but Nitto claims the 555r2 is supposed to be better than the NT05R at launching at the strip.

Yeah I mean the RII which is the G2 555 tire in the drag radial version.I don't think the G2 is a drag radial. I have those on the fronts. I just ordered the 555R2 for the rear a few months ago, expected ship date is Jan 2022 due to national backorder.

I'm kinda leaning towards them if it sounds like they work well. Nitto is the only company really offering the right sizes for me.Yep they look promising, I'm waiting on them to ship. I've read they're a good drag tire with decent life compared to others like MT

You dont want the G2
555 G2 Front
555 RII Rear
The 555 RII 305/35R19s grip significantly better than NT05R 285/40R18s on the street aired @ 30psi. I have not been to the strip with the 555 RIIs. I was pleased with the NT05Rs on the strip aired down @ 16psi, very little to no spin, depending on launch technique.

Our cars are virtually twins. I have a dedicated street set so these will just be for track use.555 G2 Front

I have had two sets of the G2 street tires on my other cars. Not really sticky but they're great tires. He meant the 555RII that I recently ordered, but I do have the G2 on the front and they've been a decent tire for street driving. I have never driven them on a track tho

Been using this size (NT05R) exclusively since 2018. These keep me from going sideways with ~950 rwhp.Good to hear you're liking them, I just ordered 315/40r18s

If this is a new size for your car, adjust your Tire Revolutions per Mile to 758 in your tune.
