It is hilarious to go back and read how this was heralded as the Tesla killer when it was rolled out. EV chuds @Fat Boss fail to understand that the Tesla is a luxury car that just happens to be EV which =/= EVs are popular.

I remember when these pieces of junk hit our dealer, we could not give them away. GM auto shipped us 22K in “special tools” to perform warranty repairs months before the first one hit the lot too.

You, me, and every other American taxpayer paid for those tools. Ugh.

So, are they killing it due to the now outdated battery, and/or the 1500 silverado takes precedence over a shit eco car?

or because it doesn't sell, or because it catches on fire etc.

There’s irony in the timing of the Bolt getting axed. It comes amid record production and sales of the vehicle for mass-market consumers, which was GM’s initial goal.

This part threw me off. Says record production/sales, but that could still be shit numbers in reality.
Anywho, rip to those who buy these cars that have batteries that get outdated in under a decade.

I think GM cut their teeth on the Bolt, learned some lesson, and the Bolt was such a bad vehicle they could not reform it, but take those lessons and start over. However, I do not know about anyone else, I spent allot of time watching you tube videos about electric cars, and unless you are spending big money for the ultra-high range vehicles, or have more than one car, these inexpensive low range EV's are complete waste of money unless you buy it for the novelty factor.

This. I know we're hearing ELECTRIC EVERYTHING for the future, but the manufacturers are also not that stupid, they know this pendulum will swing back and EV demand will cap out. Most of the EVs that are "popular" are that way because they're luxury vehicles, or fast. And all of them are expensive. This Bolt was GMs attempt to make an EV for the middle class masses, and it failed. Getting higher income people to swap from an S-class to a EQS at roughly the same $140K is easy. Getting a middle class family to swap from an Equinox to a Bolt is a much much harder sell.

I respect Toyota for not truly buying into these shenanigans and going much slower on EVs.

Maybe some of the manufacturers are not that stupid, but I am willing to bet some of them are. See AB.

I totally agree, but there was no way GM was going to sell a highline electric car on their first pass, the masses wont adopt to EV's unless they are force to, that's what Biden and his administration are doing, it's a sad state of affairs. I am willing to bet, anyone in America who wants an electric car has one or can go out and buy one today.
