Stripping the rotors is necessary as L's with higher miles the coating flakes off and gets stuck in the intercooler.. Mine wasn't too bad but well on it's way to disaster.. Glad I did it now :D Not going to bother with porting as I don't have the time to get a Tune.. I in a month the truck goes into storage and I won't get to drive it until Spring 2010 when i get back from Australia!! By then I'll want to get a big blower or somethin instead... So for now.. just doing the preventative maintenance..

Did you even read my posts? Did you not see the question marks? I was asking a question. Not posting false info. And if you want.... go read the s/c removal link in the How To section and yes it says to dispose of the gaskets (there are several it refers to). Which would be standard practice at shops/dealerships because its not they're money they're spending and its good insurance. I was simply relaying what I had read. I never said they cant be reused. I'm just learning like the rest of these guys. Havent posted false info yet to my recollection.

I am about to switch to an 8 from a 4 and probably do a port too.
But I only street race short distances, so I'm not too worried about heat.
And I may spray a small shot of nitrous if my intake temps get to be ridiculous.

Stick with a 6lber, a 8lber will only over spin the blower and cause heat. Then you will be defeating the purpose of the blower by blowing in warm air.

I've noticed alot of people just go with the 6 and for anything over that its time for an aftermarket. I would think the 8# would be blowing some pretty warm air which could start some detonation and get you a new motor before long  I would try calling your local tuner whos had experience with them if I were you and that interested in an 8#. They could help you more than anything.

Stick with a 6'r.
Your friend's truck is either a freak, or a previous owner upgraded some internals.

I run Mobil 1 in my Eaton for my car. Unless you have other issues then it will be perfectly fine.

Your sig says 610 HP, is that measured at the wheel, or is it a crank HP figure derived from a RWHP number? ...and with a ported Eaton?

I had no idea an Eaton could make more than 530ish or so rwhp...?

Ok so I got the truck all back together today.. What an improvement.. so much smoother and I got all my Vac back during cruising speeds.. I will admit I am dissapointed with the silencer holes being plugged.. The blower is not much louder IMO.. oh well.. It had to come off anyways.. I will get updated detailed pics soon.

Thats probably your problem. Closed the holes but your not moving any more air than previously.

if you port your supercharger you can run a 8lber. i run a 8lber but also have a jdm long block. so im only seeing 12lbs of boost. if you have a good tune detonation is not to worry is that heat will pull your timing. making your truck a slug so defeating the purpose. when im at the track i dont even see heat soak that bad.

Gucci,

Get a 4 or 6 lower, port the blower your self, get it tuned and be done... start there! this isnt like a cobra where you can throw 8 lbs of boost extra on and be ok, these applications are a little more critical
