Screamin did 1 coil all around and that would be slammed for our shitty roads...But depends on what you want. You have CC plates already? Bumpsteer kit? I believe those stores have a roller but if not I think someone on DSC has a kit we can use. Im gonna try and do 1/2 coil front and maybe 5/8 rear and I hope I wont need CC plates but we'll see

He did 1 coil rear and little over 3/4 front

I had cut coupe springs on my vert 1 coil front, 3/4 rear, all isos. At first it was great but each month that passed the car just felt progessively worse, it just felt sloppy. After 6 months of that I said screw it and switched to h&r sport springs had those about 2 months they were just way too low, bottoming out, scraping and way too soft. Then finally went with h&r race springs which are perfect and wished I had just gotten those in the beginning.

my opinion, it is a cheap way to lower the car. your handling will not increase at all. imo, I did it as a quick solution. I knew I was doing a full suspension build, so I just cut the stockers for the first couple of months I had the car.

the handling of the car with stock cut springs compared to a spring like H&R is night and day.

What do you guys think of cutting 1 complete ring off an 04 convertible and leaving the ISO's on? I dont want the raked look. I want the front and back to both look to be the same height and level.

Stock vert springs, stock ISO's, 1 coil off all four.

ok guys I have a quick question.

I have an 03 Irs in my 03 gt with all stock cobra springs. I am about to cut a 1/2 coil off.

I have a couple questions. First question is, WHat end of the springs do I cut? How can I tell the top from bottom on the springs? How are the springs supposed to be oriented? will the pig-tails placement change after they are cut from the bottom? Will i need cc plates with only a 1/2 coil while keeping the iso's.

sorry for all the noob questions. I just want to know what im doing before im start.

thanks

You cut the Non-pig tail end; the pigtail is flattened.

Cut from the bottom,it kinda looks like a pig tail as you mentioned, the top of the spring is flat. You`ll see where the spring is supposed to sit when you get it out.The end of the spring sits in a little recess. Most likely you wont need cc plates w/a 1/2 coil.Don`t be sorry, that what this forum is about, help and advise. These guys have helped me out tons.

thanks guys. here is a pic of the car. !8x9 and !8x10.5 true forged mach 5's. 295/35 rear and a 245/35 front. Im changing the fronts to a 255/40-18. the side wall of the 35 series is too small and im aftaid im going to hurt the rim.

looking at a 1/2 coil all around witht stock iso's in. also going to add a 1/4"spacer to the rear for some clearance on the rear if the irs. I have the low-pro bolts but its SUPER close to the rear IRs tube.

Another noob here...will this work just as good on stock GT springs? I got Eibachs right now and they just arent doing it for me...too high. I have my stock springs and want to cut them. Already have strange 10 ways and c/c plates so im good there, but will the stock GT convertible springs be too soft to cut and use? Im looking for a nice 1.75-2 inch drop.

Im with TRBO VNM on this one.

Sure cutting the stock spring gives you a nice look, but nothing will compare to a true performance spring such as the H&R Race.

I personally think its a cheap way to save some money if you dont want to spend on H&R or Steeda etc...
