This thread wasn't meant to make anyone mad. It was simply to get some of your opinions on the subject. A lot of you make valid points. VIN is VIN. I agree about the pushrod no longer being a terminator but that is my own opinion. I am not jealous of Jake by any means. I'm happy that he has hit a personal goal of what he wanted his car to do. I also hit a personal goal of being the fastest ported eaton terminator with 6-speed and IRS. My next goal will be the fastest 6-speed/IRS terminator but that will hopefully be done with twin turbos and full interior. My goal of my new car is to go to the track only change out wheels and tires and run 9's with a totally full interior, daily drivin capable Cobra. If you want a full on drag car go ahead! It's your car to do with what you want. Just not my cup of tea.

Why would a "Terminator" stop being a "Terminator" just based on the modifications done to it? Your name is what's on your birth certificate (Barring legally changing it) no matter how much weight you gain/lose, how your hair is cut, what clothes you wear, etc. - same principle.

Thats actually and very good point. Never thought of it that way but it is the same principle if you think about it.

No that is not the same. hair cut and clothes would be equal to painting it and body kits. Turbos and other things would be like removing body parts or swapping body parts and removing your internal organs or swapping your heart for another animal heart (engine swap) and your brain for another animal brain (PCM). you are not using what comes natural to the car you are using other parts. But you would still be you just different.

Eh, whatever... I'm buying a V6 car atleast that's what the VIN says, but when the big block passes by I'll claim the fastest V6 record...lol (man you guys would love to lose to a v6 right?)

To each their own.

Please, no one take offense to my post, it's mainly because this argument has been on going since the first cars were raced.

Some people go to auctions looking for numbers matching, others look for whatever is faster.

As long as its still Ford powered I say its still a Terminator. When you cross-breed is where it starts getting confusing. Even then I guess what you see is what you get?

If it started as a terminator, it'll always be a terminator. The fastest terminator is the fastest. Period. You can make up your own records from there. That's why so many people strive for fastest 6 speed, IRS, eaton only, or 6 speed, IRS, ported eaton, or 6 speed IRS stock pulley eaton etc,. I started with a slower car so setting a record is easier for me. If I can drop 2 tenths I'll have the worlds fastest SC'd Mach 1 :)

Soon as a Terminator has been bastardized with an auto and SRA, it's no longer what the VIN # reflects.

More like a pumped-up Mach1 then what the car was originally intended for.
It was never meant to be a 1/4 mile car.

That's what the Mach 1 was for...:bash:

So what was the 03-04 Cobra created for if it wasn't made for drag racing?

Solid axle and auto trans are fine IMO. As long as you keep the 4.6 DOHC in it I still consider it an 03-04 cobra. Now if you go pushrod (the smart choice :) ) or something other than the 4.6 then I think an argument could be made for it not really being what it was. But strengthening the drivetrain, like going auto and solid rear doesn't make it not a cobra. It just makes it a faster cobra.

I think the only people who try to justify certain setups as not being a cobra anymore are the ones who are too slow to keep up so they try to make themselves feel better by making retarded claims and retarded records like "the fastest 6-speed IRS sonic blue windows tinted original floor matted shorty antenna'd cobra in their town". Get over it and accept the fact that some people will put an auto/solid rearin their cobra and that it's still a cobra whether you feel that way or not. I mean, cobras didn;t come with KBs, whipples, or turbos from the factory, so does any cobra with one of those make it not a cobra anymore? I think not.

I think someone is J-E-A-L-O-U-S of Jake.

Kinda what i was thinking too. but hell he is 3rd on the list,im 4th and im happy where i am..at least for now;-)

But if you look at his stats...

He is the top Eaton/IRS/6Speed guy.

Terminator = Proper VIN from Ford/SVT with 4 Valve Motor (Whether it be turbo'd, twin screw, solid axle, trans swap)

For everyone that thinks a Terminator has to be a near stock car, what do you classify a Cobra that has been heavily modded yet the owner still has all the stock parts...

When it still instills fear and anxiety in everyone else's rear view in that way that only a car recognizable as a Terminator can.

Or until you replace the side scoop inserts; once those come off it's not a Terminator anymore.
