Hi, I am starting this tread for a friend of mine. (Please understand we both are french and i have a little less trouble with writing in English:shrug:) We did search before but we did not really got the answer we really wanted. He have an 03 Mach1, he is going Roots Style for his winter project. Is decision is pretty much made by going this way. We wanted to know if there cons/suggestions or tips that we should be aware before going this way? He will go with my Stage 4 blower ,stock TB and Plenum. Would centrifuge be a better choice if yes Why??

Thanks alot Guys:rockon:

What does he have done? internals swapped over to handle the boost? Is it s/c already? Does it have the eaton swap parts already on it?

Pulley Kit, K/n Cold air, tune. No internals.nothing has been done so far S/Cwise!!! With 7-9 pound of boost should be ok with bottom end??

you need to factor in more then just the amount of boost, stuff like milage on the engine, maintenance routine, driving style, overall condition of the engine will all play aroll even on low boost. a good tune plays a critical roll in making a stock engine live under boost, find a good tuner that has experinece and a good reputation. there is no single answer to that question every car is different and they will react differently under boost even just 7-9 lbs.

Running around 8lbs. of boost on an Easton swapped Mach 1 motor, is probably not going to be an issue, but like these other guys said, you have to figure in all the other variables, and get it tuned properly.

Them UD's will take out that motor not the blower. With them stayin on next thing ya know his water pump will be shot and he'll have a blower with a useless motor.

Yes that means the underdrive pullies. And ditch them means get rid of them.

What happens is they are so small and light weight that they spin way to fast and shatter the gears in the water pump. Our/any motor with no water will over heat and eventually blow up. There not worth it to have on.

Oil pump, not water pump.

I would definitely read up the thread on Mach1Registry about the parts needed. Its not a easy swap because of so many parts.

they do not shatter water pump gears...they shatter oil pump gears!

they do not shatter them because they are so small and lightweight that they spin way to fast...they are too small to dampen the harmonics on the crank shaft, where the oil pump gears are driven, therefore the harmonics are transferred to the weak metal oil pump gears and they shatter.

It might be a better idea to figure out what all parts you need ( the first link i posted will show you) and look online or on the registry for parts. Its ok to get small odds and ends from a dealership but would be expensive as hell if you bought everything new. Just a thought though its up to you.

your very welcome... jackass

It's "You're".

Sorry, I had to get in on this somehow. :lol1:

OP - there are a LOT of variables like already mentioned. Also, you have to remember that he is installing a ported stg4 blower. Even with teh stock upper pulley, it will be at a 450-470 power level pending tune and other mods.

Personally, I wouldn't go with that blower without upgraded the internals first. A stage 1 port yes, but a stg4, not me.
