Yes, VERY limited.

And yes I found out more info, but there is still something else that Ford hasn't revealed. My source is second-hand but it goes to very significant persons in play here. I won't post what I did learn but you were right, it far exceeds my expectations. I am more curious about what they are holding back. The Laguna Seca will be one very special street-legal Mustang!

EDIT: Oops sorry I'm going into the cone of silence.
No PMs or anything, please don't ask I ain't going to be the leaker. Like Senator "Depends" "Leakey Leahey" http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/3/13/202146.shtml

My speculation is the difference will be a big horsepower boost. If the engine is the same as the 302R which I believe makes 450+HP through the restrictors then Ford is holding back on the HP and RPM in some manner most likely as a part of warranty considerations.

There has been talk of a "red-key". Maybe the LS will come with a key that has some type of encryption (or a different ECM) that would allow the engine to operate at full tilt but void the warranty if used? Key-on engine has an 8400 redline and makes 475-500HP?

"Balance is the key on Boss, and even more so on Laguna Seca," said Pericak.

Could all be BS, who knows.

hmmm

Some more great BOSS information direct from Ford Racing....

Got to love statements like:

"Boss Laguna Seca result in the best-handling Mustang ever, with more than 1.03 g of lateral acceleration" & "At the back, a large rear spoiler is sized to exactly complement the effect provided by the front splitter and underbody aero treatments, with the combination adding as much as 90 pounds of downforce at 140 mph. :dancenana::rockon::banana:

nothing really new there besides the lateral Gs i believe. we know the splitter and undertray are from the boss 302R aero package, and i'm almost positive that the rear wing will be the GT500 piece, possibly with a different gurney flap. maybe it'll come with a couple flaps, so you can 'tune' the aero some.

edit: i'm an idiot, we already know from the pics that the laguna is getting the optional pedestal wing from the GT(or atleast one very similar to it).

That wing on the LS is terrible looking. I hope the GT500 in 2012 does not get that

I can't wait to see those recaro's in black leather with the snake stiched in the back!

Had the opportunity to sit in the 2012 Boss Laguna Seca today. The quad exhaust sounds awesome there are 2 small pipes exiting just in front of the rear tires and 2 large pipes out the back. 440 NA HP (forged internals with 7500 RPM redline), 180 MPH speedo, adjustable shocks, recaro seats, rear seat delete, brembos. It was a black one with red roof, spoiler, grille, wheels, and stripes. Didn't get any pics though...

i'm 85% sure that the 302LS wing is the exact same wing that is optional on the GT, so i highly doubt it would ever even be an option on the GT500. frankly, the standard boss and the LS both should've either gotten unique wings or the 2010/11 GT500 spoiler(which looks fantastic BTW).

on a side note, why does my spell check say that "should've" isn't a word. "should" and "have", for the contraction "should've", right

At the back, a large rear spoiler is sized to exactly complement the effect provided by the front splitter and underbody aero treatments, with the combination adding as much as 90 pounds of downforce at 140 mph.

“You have to experience the new KR at speed in a curve to feel the difference,” said John Pfeiffer, SVT product design engineering specialist. “It has an absolutely minimal areo moment of just 54lb. Ft. at 120 mph, a 92 percent improvement versus the GT-500.
From here.

I'd assume the numbers would be closer at similar speeds. It'd be interesting to see exactly where the difference in "center of pressure' locations between the two.

That thing better make 500 or the special key isn't so special......just saying. I guess I just have high hopes that this car will be the gateway.......the future in factory 5.0 performance!

Yes, hopefully not just a gimmick. One that voids the warranty when utilized. Too much build up can be a bad thing, if the end result is underwhelming.

i dunno about 500, i mean that's a pretty damn big jump over 440 for a naturally aspirated engine. this is one hell of an engine, but 100HP/l would be huge, HUGE, achievement! there really isn't much 'exotic' about this engine at all. 8500RPM though, maybe it'll happen with those crazy heads and that sick intake.

as far as being a gimmick, i just don't see it. ford hasn't even mentioned this 'key' thing yet, and we already know how 'focused' this car is for the track. i mean, R compounds after all!

maybe i'm being overly optimistic, but, based on ford's actions as of let, i really expect this to be the real deal.

I think 500 is not a long shot! 550 HP GT500 see's 800whp with bolt-ons, a N/A 5.0 should see close to 60hp with 1000 more RPM's and a more agressive tune.

This gives me hope that Ford will finally put those Germans off their strudel once again! The 5.0 brings me much joy.......it's like apple pie and baseball! The new Ford makes me so proud to be an American and it's only going to get better from what I can see! HELL YEAH!

the reason i noted 'naturally aspirated' is because there isn't anything the euqivelent of a pulley change for an NA car. having said that, a 1000RPM increase on an engine with heads that can inhale a cow and an intake designed to feed the space shuttle at cruising speed should definitely give us a big HP increase. 60HP is a lot out of an NA engine either way though, but i'm certainly not saying that it's out of the realm of possibility.

LOL @ the strudel comment, that's good stuff. i'm a huge fan of the german stuff - especially M-B - but i don't have 6,7XX posts on a ford forum for no reason. i wasn't around when the domestic vehicles were really considered at the top in most segments(what, the early 70's maybe?), i've grown up in a time where you choose between a honduh accord and a toyoda camry simply because it's the smart, sensible choice - and that really has been true unfortunately - so i'm just absolutely ecstatic with what ford is doing! i mean, they truly are building vehicles that are leaders in damn near every segment - fiesta, upcoming focus, fusion, taurus, mustang, flex, F-series, up coming explorer, hell even the transit connect - and it's just amazing to watch this happen. i don't know if any automaker has made such a huge turn around in such a short amount of time. it's a great time to be a ford fan - a domestic fan!!!
