Hey guys! I just stepped up from an amazing 04 Comp Orange Vert Cobra to an even more amazing 13 Shelby. Anyways, she's got some mods and plan on getting cams done in the next month or so. I need an oil change and was thinking based on some quick internet research and looking through a couple threads by unleashedbeast about previous years GT500's it seems that Amsoil 10w-40 is a good choice for these cars, is that correct. Would like to order it today but want to cross check with everyone here on SVTP first. I have mainly ran Royal Purple HPS in all 4.6 Cobras I've had with no issues. Does the zinc content match up with Amsoil or do they have a better version similar to Royal Purple's lineup? Would like something with better protection quality than the motorcraft 5w-50 that seems to be recommended by Ford. Thanks for any and all help guys! Oh, and here she is...

CONGRATS!

I'm a long-term Amsoil user, and have no first-hand experience with Royal Purple, so I can't say how their respective zinc contents compare. That said, I believe UB's latest recommendations vary with driving habits - Amsoil AZF 0W-40 for "street and strip" use, AMR 5W-50 for "HPDE" use.

Great Buy! You won't be disappointed, did they charge the girl who hit you for a hate crime yet?

Great looking car. Yes there as a post on here where the 10w40 amsoil was recommended if your car is mostly street driven, where as the 5w50 would be better for track oriented cars (IIRC).
I run amsoil 0w50 as it's approved by Ford but also to keep my warranty in place until I decide to mod/tune the car.

Amsoil 5w -50 is one of the very few (other than Motorcraft and maybe a couple of others) oils that are certified to use in the 13/14 Shelby.

Congrats. You got a sweet car. I will miss going to Cruzins and events with it. Guess I am the only 13\14 in town now.

Congrats!! That's crowes car right.?
Yes, *was. Haha. He's a really cool guy. Hope he ends up getting something else, I know his kid really wanted another Mustang!

Sweet, I like the idea of using the weight that is what Ford recommends (or at least close to it) so I'll try this Amsoil 5w-50 this time. I'm sure it will work great.

Thanks to everyone as well. The car is just amazing. I've been like a kid in a candy store checking out all the cool new features this car has compared to an 03/04 Cobra.

Exhaust-wise I'm getting excited to wake her up. It has kooks longtubes, off-road X pipe, weld in resonators, and stock axle back. I just ordered the Magnaflow competition axle back so that should wake her up (and the neighborhood) a bit.

OP, are they custom grabber blue stripes on the car? They look too light for sonic blue....

Good eye! They are a custom stripe I believe. Previous owner put them on instead of red factory stripes. There's a couple spots in them that I don't like/not installed 100% perfect but they look really good unless you are nitpicking up close.
