Lower control arms and get rid of the goodyears if it still has them.

And watch the wallet. This place will spend all your money.

Ditto on all of what HHR said. On LCAs in my opinion, depends on how hard / aggressive you drive it. Ditch the Goodyears for sure - even if u don't drive hard they can be risky especially if u live in cold climates. I got very lucky, as I bought my car in Chicago and had new tires (Michelin) put on before I drove it back to ATL. I had them put the old goodyears in my trunk and seats and brought them back with me. Wasn't until about a month later that my son noticed a big crack right down the middle of one of the gy tires. I'm convinced had I tried to drive it home with those gy's on I would have had a blow out.

My two cents. Take your time and get to know the car and it's power. Read a lot on here re mods and what not and then determine what if anything you want to do with it.

As HHR said we will gladly help u spend your hard earned $.

Wow that’s crazy. Definitely getting rid of the good years... yeah. I don’t plan on going all out with it in such a hurry. Just getting to know the car and getting use to driving it right now, to some people it does not seem like it, but It’s such a big upgrade compared to a 5.0 coyote .. the moment you start the car and drive it, It’s just way different. Idk that’s my opinion. Lol. I love it.. thanks for the info,

Lower control arms were a waste of time for me, wheel hop the same with a harsher ride. lower control arm relocation brackets made an amazing difference in putting power to the ground. A fanned heat exchanger kept my down stream temps and power in check (VMP has a plug and play version so there isn't any wires to splice.). Lastly my Toyo r888 are a good street tire for hooking in second and up. If second gear frustrates you with a grind or lock out, I heard that AMP performance has a solution for that. Enjoy!

You must really like a jellyroll ride. LOL To most, better LCAs provide a much better ride than stock because the rear end doesn't feel so sloppy. I believe OP said this is just going to be a street car. So, tightening up the rear end is really all he needs to do for now.

OP, all of us who have been infected with the GT500 mod bug will tell you these same 3 things in the following order:

1) Get your suspension sorted to where you want it.
2) Address cooling to preserve the power you already have.
3) Adding more power should be the last thing on your to-do list.

There are a LOT of things you can fit between #1 and #3 that all come down to personal preference, but we all agree on those 3 things in that order.

First thing you should do? DRIVE THE ****ER :D:D

You have to find out how she does during the majority of driving that you do.

Is she going to be a boulevard bruiser? Canyon carver? Street/strip?

For most, LCAs are a great option. Upper not really needed unless youre serious about your 60ft times

Ive got mine set up for the strip. Even as a daily with a mono blade TB, rod end upper and lower control arms, shes damn fun as a daily. The magic is in the adjustable shocks.

Smaller pulley, tune, plugs, intake, belt tensioner, aux upper pulley idler, exhaust, t stat... these are all things that youll EVENTUALLY consider. Just have to find out what shes going to do for you first.

Most, honestly, start with an Mgw2 shifter and upgrade the trans fluid. Redline D4 atf, amsoil signature ATF, or Mobil 1 synthetic ATF seem to work the best. Ive been through 3 types to find that my trans loves the Redline.

Welcome to the brother hood good sir. You have any questions post up and we'll help you get it sorted!

One of the best tips posted was to take your time and read up on the various recommended "basic" mods for your GT-500.....and then carefully consider both your needs and your budget. Do that and you'll be least apt to waste money on the wrong mods. Maybe stage your mods as well. Make a prioritized list and proceed according to your budget.

Congratulations on buying your GT-500. I'm sure you're enjoying it big time. ;)

Wrong, It wasn't jelly before or after the lowers, I wanted to get rid of the wheel hop,Steeda claimed their arms ELIMINATED wheel hop so I tried them. Result was a harsher ride, with the same wheel hop. Before you comment remember you're not in my shoes or my car.[/QUOTE]
