Some good options in here. I like the Camry suggestion, I also came across a Corolla S, not a horrible looking car and smaller than the Camry which could be nice.

I have a feeling it may between a Mazda 6 and Camry/Corolla.

The Corolla S has the 2.4l I4 instead of the base 1.8l and about 20 extra HP 159 HP vs 138 HP which makes it sort of nice not having to floor it to pick up speed. But you really do feel the engine bog around this time of year if you use the Max A/C while sitting still. Moving not so much

Elantra GT w/ the 1.6L turbo motor
Kia Forte w/ 1.6L turbo motor
Veloster Turbo(they can be REALLY cheap now that the new one is out)

Hyundai/Kia with the 1.6L motors are fantastic little cars. They can be bought cheap and are extremely easy on maintenance. 38+mpg is the regular and the sport or turbo models usually have significant differences between them and the regular models.

I own a Fiesta ST and if i were to do it again id probably have gone with the Elantra GT hatch with the turbo motor or the Veloster turbo R spec. They have so many more options, a MUCH better interior and are only slightly slower than the Fiesta. I love my Fiesta but wish it had a few more options than what Ford offered. The only reason why it won out was the Ford pin code i had along with aftermarket support(hyundai and kia are barely there).

You can get a 2018 Elantra GT w/ the 1.6L for under 22k right now with a 6 speed manual. 100k mile warranty so you can own it for a LONG time without having to spend much more than tires, gas and oil.

I think you're confusing the Xrs. I'm pretty certain the S is just some body pieces and maybe suspension but dont quote me on that.

You could probably find an earlier (03-05 I believe) Infiniti G35 sedan for that range. Would have a lot of miles but if it’s clean and was maintained it should be reliable. Reasonably comfortable interior, looks decent lowered and with some wheels. Just throwing out a different idea.
