I've had a Motorcraft in my car for 8 years now, and its still perfect. I just keep a tender on it when the car sits for more than a week. I've been in the auto repair business for 12 years now, and in my experience OEM batteries are almost always the best.

Boosted...I recently put an Odyssey PC680 in mine. They’re much smaller (and lighter) than OEM so the factory battery tray doesn’t hold it. It’ll just sit there, but if you’re going racing, you’ll need a battery hold down kit for it.

It shaved 17 pounds off the nose of the car so I think it’s worth it.

Thanks! I’m interested in the 1200 to keep a good amount of reserve since the car is primarily a street car, the big fuel pumps put a pretty good draw on the car and I’m chasing a P0148 code under boost. (Return fuel system)

I have a PC680 and was wondering what tray and strap kit to use? 17 pounds up front is a nice chunk.

There is no hold down on the sides of the 1200 odyssey. The modification would be a strap over the top. There are about 3 different 1200 odyssey types like the metal Jacket or side vs top.

I had a 1500 in mine at one time and I put spacers in the tray to extend it out more and was able to use the hold down and had longer wires to hook up to it. I have since put the odyssey in my bronco though and do wish to still get another odyssey for it.

This was a few years back that I had done it, and that is what I recall from when I looked into the 1200.

I found a picture online of the bracket I was speaking of. Your post intrigued me as I have been wanting to get another Odyssey.

Nothing against you Motorcraft guys I just am just not a big fan of Johnson Controls after the whole Tyco merger that caused them to go off shore for tax dodging.

Anyhow take a look at the picture. (I still think the pc1500 is a better choice) A group 34 1500 is not much bigger than a group 58 (1/8" longer and 3/8 " wider) . (however it is a bit taller)

Someone did do a write up I saw once for the 1500 install on here somewhere.
