It's a shame Lincoln doesn't do performance because a performance-minded Aviator could slot in well with this group with the luxury and style they have been able to incorporate lately.

I know what you mean with the G Cherokee though. I have always liked them but the overall experience has always been lackluster. Never driven the Trackhawk but it was always the steering and overall feeling of not feeling connected to the car that bugged me.

Yeah, it was kind of like one of those "never meet your heroes" moments. The upcoming Aviator is absolutely gorgeous! The only issue I have with that one [for now] is that it will be a plug-in hybrid with no V8 option available. Also, we don't want a 3-row SUV. However, I would definitely make an exception for a V8 Aviator.

How modded is your GT500?

...

Little bit of this, little bit of that.

FCA wants $95k for those things?
Has the whole world gone crazy?

I believe you can option one up to $105K.

Have you looked at a gently used G63?

I don't like the looks of the G-wagon.

Is the new V-8 X5 on your consideration list? In the trucks your looking at, maybe the 460HP isnt enough. Will tow 7200 lbs now.

I've never been a fan of the X5. Now it's even uglier. Also, it makes zero pretensions at being anything other than a pavement vehicle. The vehicle we get will be subjected to everything we put the Forester XT through; off in the weeds, mud, rutty roads, unpaved mountain passes, dogs/cargo/dirt in the back (with protection, of course), etc. The X5 isn't really suited for any of that, based on my admittedly limited research of it.

Buying a new Cayenne turbo will be like throwing money down a drain. They lose value like crazy. Buy a two year old with low miles and save $50k.

We'd have it for the long haul, so depreciation isn't a major concern.

Goodwrite up, thanks. Have you thought of the new alfa SUV? Cant recall the name but saw Doug Demuro review and he spoke very highly.

I have considered the Stelvio or whatever it's called. It's right along the lines of the X5; pavement only.

I would have serious concerns about owning a Trackhawk out of warranty.

Agreed. I had an FCA car before, and thank goodness I bought an extended warranty! I loved the car. It ended up being a piece of trash, but I still loved it. Believe it or not, I still think of it fondly in spite of it practically falling apart. It was built by the SRT team before they had an official name.

I don't see a Trackhawk or Porsche being good at rutty roads or unpaved mountain roads...

Yes there definitely incentives. Dealers here are doing crazy cousin Eddie deals to move these things.

I'm not surprised. Like I said, the dealership we went to admitted they have a really hard time selling the Trackhawks. I could probably get a killer deal on it. But I'd just be constantly annoyed by all the noise it makes and probably end up regretting that we bought it. Plus, the wife is pretty much in "hell no!" mode with it.

You wouldn't think, especially with the Porsche. However, based on my research, the Cayenne is actually really good offroad.

Wait, OP posted the tires were flat spotted and then goes on to remark about how odd and noisy the powertrain was. You just can’t make this shit up! On what planet do we find these people?

Some get it, most don't.

Aren't there incentives on the Trackhawk? Why do you keep looking at cars at dealerships that charge an ADM?

That doesn't push their narrative, duh! :D

FWIW the condition of the tires probably added considerable NVH. They are low profile and flat spots would definitely be harsh on a wheel/tire combo like the trackhawks. My buddies 18 SRT Cherokees ride is firm, but still compliant, no vibration, rattles etc. I just can’t imagine a trackhawk being that much different. If you still have any thoughts about one, then I’d go test drive another one elsewhere.

100% wrong. Perhaps you intentionally overlooked the part where I said I LOVED my FCA vehicle??

Easy killer. I've never seen you say a nice thing about a Hellcat powered anything... no big deal. I'm not a huge fan of them myself, they're all too big and heavy for me.

Are you planning on 4wheeling your trackhawk?

Not four-wheeling, but definitely going off the beaten path from time to time. Which, I found out the Trackhawk doesn't have an adaptive (raising/lowering) suspension, so that's another mark that take it out of the running. The Cayenne can give us over 10" of ground clearance.

I have said nice things about Hellcat powered vehicles. I LOVE the way they sound [from the outside], and they do look badass in certain colors. The main reason I don't care for them is because they're too damned big and heavy. That and the Hellcat fanboys are annoying as hell. I think they turned me off from the vehicles more than the vehicles themselves. (Same thing happened with the GTR. Loved it when it first came out, hated it after the fanboys latched onto it.)

I can't help but feel this is slightly jaded. I would also bet money the truck was neutered. I doubt they'd turn 700hp over without much consideration.

All things equal, FCA vehicles are very love/hate. When you boil it all down, the Challenger/Charger/Trackhawk is a very different riding, driving, type of power. Typically your Hellcat owner wouldn't like the ride/characteristics of an S550. And vice versa for a Trackhawk/G Cherokee fan with other SUV's.

If you like the weight, cushiness, and other bits then more power to you. If not, then so bet it, i'm sure there are other options.

Regardless, I refuse to believe 700hp was underwhelming.

you want the Cayenne obviously go buy it. Negatives on all other vehicles except the Porsche other than you cant find a turbo model.

Get what makes you happy not what the outside world thinks.

Chances are you were only using 500 of the 707 HP because the vehicle hasn't passed the break-in period. You can figure that out when viewing the performance pages, and if you switch to Sport mode and the digital image of the drive train isn't all red (yellow instead), you are only accessing 500HP. I daily drive mine, and absolutely love it, especially the low end acceleration. I have hit several 3.3 second 0-60s and am very pleased with those numbers for how heavy the vehicle is. Do I think it should be priced at $100K, no, but value is determined by buyers. So be it.

Honestly, I love both although I get your point. They are just different animals. I even really like the gt350's(easy there @Zemedici) although I feel like they are underpowered stock but with a whipple they are a blast. Of course this is coming from a guy who makes his living modding shit so I think everything is underpowered stock, including the trackhawk. They are absolute monsters modded though.

700HP in a 5000+ lbs vehicle is not nearly as exciting as people made it seem. And in the case of the Trackhawk, launching it from a stop is something I would probably never be doing. Nailing it to get around traffic on a road trip or through the mountains is where it would need to perform for us. It didn't wow us like it seems to wow everybody else.

Well, the Cayenne is easily the least attractive of the 3 on the outside. I'm really wanting to see what the RSQ8 is going to bring to the table, but the Q8 is even uglier than the Cayenne. And I have a feeling it's not going to be as capable.

Trackhawk's a total piece of shit because it wont raise / lower for off roading.

BRB going to go do a top speed run in a 80hp Honda Accord. If it doesn't go 200mph its shit.

@Junior00 lolololol

Surprised the Trackhawk wasn't as good as you mentioned.

I can say that the Porsche's are meh to me. The owners of my company both have newer (2016+) Macan GTS's and Cayenne GTS's along with a Turbo Panamera.

So far, the Cayenne in two years of ownership has been in the shop at least 10 plus times. We always here them complaining about sensors going bad, brake issues, car not starting sometimes, etc. Always small and stupid things. Those cars are sub $100,000 and for that kind of money, it better be super reliable.

Have you considering the Durango SRT? Cheaper than the Trackhawk, quick, nice looks and is sounds awesome.

My R/T beats the owner's 1,000LB lighter Macan GTS and one instance, hung with the GTS until we started passing 50 MPH, but, again, Cayenne/Macan are much smaller and lighter.

They look awesome, drive awesome, but, when there is a problem, they are truly expensive to fix.
