That's the thing, he bought this as a temporary car for cheap(2 years), after his WRX was stolen.

But if it won't pass, it won't pass.

I will say that a coworker had a mid 90s 4 Runner with 250k miles on it. She cleaned it up, got some paint correction done, a service with Toyota and still sold the thing for nearly 7k. It was in pretty good shape but i just couldnt believe people still want to pay that much for a 20+ year old truck with 250k miles on it.

Guy promptly lifted it, threw some big tires on it and flipped it a week later. Total loss.

Back in the day they had stuff to add to the gas to help pass

Not sure if they still do.

Nj was a pita

Some else.
My son was marines

Lived in Texas but California made him inspect car

Car was registered to Texas and had a California inspection sticker

Which now makes me wonder if it is ok to inspect elsewhere that doesn’t do emmions as part of test.

Texas is like that. Some counties have it some like mine do not

Aside from the front bumper being horribly sandblasted, it's insanely clean.

I told him we should repaint the front bumper before he sells it. From 20' it would look brand new until you started poking around.

It is a different platform, yet the same make and model but 4th Gen 4Runner's have cat issues also. I don't have emissions testing in the county I live in Wisconsin but I had to spark plug defoulers on both rear O2 sensors to keep the CEL off as I was getting the P0420 and P0430 codes. I did try to replace the rear O2s with no success.
