Hey guys, new to this whole thing as far as posting but have been using svtp for a while. So, don’t know if this is the right place for this. My car was originally sold in Hawaii, but shows no records of sale or registration until 2014 that I can find. Soon after that it was shipped mainland, which for me raised suspicion of a branded title but everything checks out clean and clear no accidents. Also runs just fine compression good everything. I think it could have been a drag car? Not sure the response I would get on this. Will elaborate more with details if anyone cares. Trying to get to the bottom of this.

Throw the pics and vin on here. Ya never know.

As far as drag car, what leads you to believe that other than the possible lack of early registration? Honestly I suspect that is an error of some sort.

Do you see evidence of a cage, straight axle, lots of aftermarket or supporting mods and then a stock blower?

Just now seeing these. Thank you for the responses. Will throw up vin and pics in just a second. Yes, the lack of registration was the major one for me. Also the car has many supporting mods. Certified roll cage (bolt in),T-56 magnum wide ratio, 3.4 whipple, 60lb injectors, comp stage 3 cams, dual gt pumps, car is still irs but fully built, FTBR, 4.10 gears (also a sign to me). That is most of the major things besides stuff like head cooling mod etc.

Also, am going to have my buddy at ford run the vin on Monday when he gets to work. If he can’t find anything gonna form over the $$ for a car fax. Last known record was a dealer in Hawaii. Contacted them and they said they might be able to help. Sent over the vin and they haven’t replied since. Thought that was weird also.

Also had metal door cards when I got it. Came with factory though and I switched them back.

No idea why the lapse of history...but wth those mods, it is without a doubt a drag racer. A bit surprised it's still IRS.....but I don't see a road racer wanting 4.10 gears and a 3.4 whipple.

Good thing it checked out compression wise......because I was going to recommend getting a compression test. I'd swap injectors and get that car on E85 setup ASAP.

Yep!! It’s sure weird that there are no records at all. Thought maybe the dealer had it on a dealer tag for 11 years until he didn’t want it anymore lol. But yes with the cage and whipple (big one I forgot to mention lol battery shut off) I knew it had to be a drag car.. very surprised the irs was not swapped out as well. I plan on it sometime soon, was going to get a tune to hold me over but this winter has sucked so she’s been sitting anyways.

What’s the mileage on the car? If low, then I can see being a drag only car.

Do you know what island it came from? Oahu hasn’t had an active drag strip probably since that car was made.

Mileage is 33k so not too high but not too low. But that is good to know, It is off of Oahu! The dealership it was sold through from there at least.

Had 24k on it when it was sold from the dealership in Oahu. According to the only record I could find.

Some people would do all of those mods, maybe run it now and then, but not totally a “drag” car.

Main thing Id look at is shocks and springs. What’s the wheel and tire setup?

What’s the concern anyways? Or just curious?

Any car that gets shipped off the islands back to mainland need to be up to date on safety inspection and current registration. If it came from Oahu, that car with the modifications It has would have had to a Recon inspection sticker like the one attached. The other islands don’t have recon inspection, just money hungry Oahu lol.

I only mention this because if you didn’t see this sticker then it could have been on another island that does have a drag strip. We ship cars back and forth all the time so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it originally was bought on Oahu and then went somewhere else.

Just giving you some background on how Hawaii works, either way if you’re happy with the car and it’s clean and everything the seller said it was is good then I wouldn’t worry much. I know the feeling, I wanted to track down all the history on my previous cars as well. This one is kind of interesting though. Good luck, hopefully a car fax or dealer can get you an answer.

Nothing crazy there, just eibach springs and strange shocks. Rovo Cape Town with pilot sport cup 2 up front and r888r our back. Not too many concerns really, would like to know what times it ran and when it was built with the whipple etc. I think history like that is cool and wish I knew more about mine. Has some harness in it that expired in 05 or 06 so assuming it was built soon after it was bought. Blower is a gen I.

Okay very cool thank you. I did not see one of these, but it was sold to 1 other private owner before the guy I bought it from had purchased the car. So may have left Oahu some time between. Also where would the sticker be? More than likely in an obvious place and was already taken off but can’t hurt to ask lol! Thank you for your help!

I agree with your points. Those mods don't necessarily make a statement that this car was a drag racer. There are quite a few owners here on SVTP who have cars modded to a level that would highly suggest a drag racer, when in fact the mods were done to make it a beastly king of the road with little or no actual drag racing.

@Caden807, it's going to be interesting to see what your friend's Carfax reports shows. That seemingly long lapse of a record is indeed a mystery, unless the Carfax fills in some blanks.

Actually, according to what I found with Google, the last Oahu track was Kalaeloa Raceway Park, which shut down in 2014.

Yes sir, always had the thought that the lapse of history was a record failure and that it was just a well built street car (that’s what I was looking for after all!) So that would be great. And yes, I am going to have him run the report at the dealership soon. and after that will run a CarFax, hope to find something!! Will keep you guys updated.
