After looking at 4 trucks and struggling to find anything for under $5k, just kinda gave up.
People want stupid money for absolute junk. Knocking engines, broken transfer cases, a few quick examples.

Poor masking job sure, but it's flat and smooth SS white. Sheet mental is straight, underside looks brand new, engine/trans great, maintenance record. Oh, and the. AC works...
Well worth $2,800 and a 4 hour round trip. I'm sure I could flip it for $4k this weekend if I wanted.
As for going Tunderp... Meh, ugly as **** but it works. My double Din Pioneer is apparently plug and play (same harness), I have 17" bead-locks with 33's that will bolt right up. I'll grab some coils, uppers, deavers and long tubes, it'll be a hoot.
Meh, your not finding running trucks with 4x4 for sub $1k, period.

You gotta come to SoCal to find some deals. 3 digits is a stretch (although ive bought a TON in that range.. less than a decade ago) but you can still find some good stuff out there.
Gotta refine your search skills and know/understand what keywords to use.
I cant give you all my secrets!
EDIT.. it should be noted i bought one for $500 last year with 4x4 so... yeah.

Well it is a GMT900, which is a POS when compared to the 400/800's.
Basically every thing around that time took a dump in styling and coat cutting.
ehh has the 5.3 and 4x4 so it’s made me happy.
just needs the HD front end which is easy to obtain and install and then they look great
Thats a nice truck and at $2k its an AMAZING truck haha
One of the ugliest Silverado GMC made imho. Previous gens and K2 are much better looking.
