So these recaro’s are out of my Thunderbird SC that the new owner didn’t want to buy so honesty debating to put them in the cobra. The Recaros are way better seats to ride in then the stock cobra seats. What you guys think about the color difference keep or sell them?

When I look at the picture, I don't see the car; my eyes go to the seats. They stand out too much, especially being a convertible.

Since you already have the seats, why not have them covered in a matching leather? The seats would blend in/disappear into the interior. They would then become a nice, subtle upgrade.

That's what I would do with them.

Ya thats an option. I was looking to get TMI Pro chicanes in the saddle color instead of having these recovered. A buddy already wants the seats for his Thunderbird SC.

That seems like a tremendous downgrade my friend. I’d keep them as is for the comfort alone and recover them in time. There might be someone making covers for those, if they are anything like an LS-B getting the seats apart and swapping covers is Lego level easy.

Those are great looking seats

I’m going through this myself. I’m talking out the oem 95R seats to store and replacing them with Recaro Sport seats.

The black just wasn’t a good fit with the two tone saddle Interior. I’ve decided to do a two tone Recaro with saddle instead.

If you do decide to use the Recaro’s have you thought about what rails/sliders to use? I measured the stock rails and the bolts are not close to lining up.

I'm going to look around see what I can find for available seat covers or possibly have recovered local someday, I'd almost prefer to stay cloth vs leather. The seats are Recaro Style, and I picked them up for a steal in 2010 for $400 with the brackets.

As for seat mounting brackets they have Wedge Engineering brackets currently for the Thunderbird, which they also make a set for the Mustang.

I agree that the cloth is better. I have the Recaro Sport seats in another car - they are incredibly comfortable and something I had to have in my 95. The upholstery I'm having done isn't cheap, but I'm ready to have a race worthy seat that is both comfortable and fits the theme of the two-tone saddle/black.

The Wedge brackets are what I am looking at too. The main reason I haven't ordered them is a statement they make about how they design the bracket to mirror the factory seat height. The Recaro's have a thin design so I am concerned the seat height will be too short.

Cool looking seats, but they stick out like a soar thumb! Especially since it’s a vert.

Changing the rear seats out for a better matching black set might work.

I actually have a spare yard or 2 of the black Recaro material that came with the seats. If I had the more 2 tone 96-97 interior I don't think they would stand out as much. It just hard to find any seats in a tan color, all I have found is TMI Chicane or Corbeau Sports (2 different tans so may ask for sample to compare the material). My son and I took a 2 hour round trip drive few weeks ago to a larger cars and coffee event, we are both shorter people (I'm 5'7"), and just did not like the way the stock seats lean back with so much distance to get shoulders and head to rest on the seat back.

Sometimes we worry to much about the look and not as much about functionality.

If you're more concerned into the comfort and the feel. (And you drive/use the car frequently) than use the seats.

I don't think they look to off, but it's not incredibly difficult to change a seat and can make your oem last longer, by preserving them by not using them, especially for long rides.

You can always swap back if going to a show or something.

Someone on here did order some of the TMI Sport Race Pro- Chicane Seats, and is supposed to update his thread when he gets them. You may keep an eye out for that and see if they work in his Vert or not.

I’ve always liked that style Recaro seat since they were an option on Saleens from the era. If it were mine I’d have them recovered in saddle leather to match. I think it’d be worth the cost.

And speaking of brackets, do all Recaros use the same hardware? Just curious as I have Sportster CS seats on the way for my 96 and haven’t seen anyone using these in an SN95. Was also looking at the Wedge and Planted mounts.

Thanks,
Adam

I ordered my Recaro brackets from Wedge today and they asked what specific model Recaro I had. I wanted both the bracket and slider and found they were highly recommended.
